Same reason they have V8 and turbo 6 pursuit cars but are not allowed to actually use them in anger.

QPOL would never enter into a situation where the bad guys are armed with anything more than a knife or a sidearm.
It would be rather embarressing to have their toy destroyed and their rambo squad "neutralised" by one person with a M72 and a couple of claymores.
We have SAS for that sort of thing and they appear to be rather good at it....
