They flat-out refused to accept this tag, citing that because I acknowledged myself as a “non authorised person” they couldn’t take it from me. (I wonder if you can hand in a lost licence?)
Sure I could just throw the tag in the rubbish, but then if she closes the account a $40 deduction would be made for the missing item. That equally doesn’t sit well with my morals.

The Service NSW position is now more flexible, pressure was strategically applied by inquiries and staff can now accept “tag returned by non registered user” at their discretion. Just as you can hand in a licence found lying on the ground.
