Thanks for that. No worries, I had no other choice at the time so had to bite the bullet. It's done nearly 3,000km since with no related problems. In fact, it doesn't take as much heat as that Octane video suggests. I soon found out with my old paint stripper gun that I could melt the surface quite easily!

The melting temp is apparently about 260°C.
Regarding the screw, I took heed of what you said and concocted a couple of very useful tools, so the screw was the lesser of my troubles. Might post a photo or two later.
