Default MST Brand new Escort test drives Mk1 and Mk2

A couple of videos on the Motorsport Tools Escorts.
The cars are a brand new reproduction, available in shell only to complete turn key with many trim, engine and suspension specs. Theres even been talk of some electric ones being built. These are set to keep the humble Escort alive and up to date for many more years yet.

Mk2 first as it was the first to be completed.

And the Mk1

I inherited my fathers Mk1 when he passed away back in the early 80's. Great car until it rotted away.

Get into it ! is what i was waiting for !

Had a mate that had this mate drive, his new VY SS 6SP Commodore and he said, get into it ! this dude would not rev it over 4000 RPM !

Old mate was ****ed off saying to him, It does not get going until 4000 RPM !

But hey if you are testing a car fang the hell out of it for .... sake, then come and tell us ya verdict !

I love them old Escort Rally cars and just the old 2.0L will do to have fun on winding dirt roads.

Or the old Datsun 1600 or Stanza with a 2.0L in it.

My wife had a RS2000 When i met her, should never of sold that car.

Now if they do either a Sierra or Escort Cosworth that'd be cool.

I’ve sent an expression of interest to MST for a touring Mk1 or Mk2 (and I’m serious).

How would one of these go with ADR’s and Rego as an occasional driver in Victoria ?

If it has compliance in the UK, you should be able to do a personal import, Im pretty sure it then only has to meet minimal ADR, like seatbelts, intrusion bars etc, like they used to with the early Jap imports.

Western Australia rules may be different from other states

Quote:
The Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014 (WA) provides a partial exemption from most of the ADR requirements for vehicles that have been imported under ‘Personal Effects’.

Where applicable to a vehicle of the same type, a personally imported vehicle must be fitted with:

Seat belts that meet an Australian Standard or British Standard.
Seat belt anchorages that meet the number and location requirements of ADR 5 (second or third edition).
Child restraint anchorages that meet the number, location, accessibility, thread size and form requirements of ADR 34 (second edition), or ADR 5 or 34 (third edition).
Head restraints that meet the number, location, and size requirements of ADR 22 (second or third edition).

Thanks mate, I’ll also reach out to VicRoads.

This would be a childhood dream, but I’m tipping this’ll be a $200,000 project.
