Hi all
I'm relatively new here and have an AUII XR8 220. I'm getting a new exhaust on Saturday and have sent my Flash Tuner back to CAPA for unlocking and installing of a generic tune. Thing is, they want the PCM code, a 4 character code, which is apparently on a sticker on the PCM. I've found the PCM in the LHS passenger kick panel, but its metal bracket is riveted in and I can't remove it. No sticker is obvious. 1. Does anyone know EXACTLY where the sticker is so that I could maybe find the code with a torch and dentist mirror? 2. Any other alternatives to drilling out the rivets in the bracket to drop the PCM and find this darned sticker? I've called a Ford dealer with my VIN, but they can't help. Thanks Mark PS - When all this is done, I look forward to reporting my results of a custom exhaust and generic edit! |

Its on the plastic connector that the loom plugs into.
I drilled out the rivet, and then ran a tap through it for a 1/2" (i think?) bolt.

If you can get to a capa dealer with a data logger, they can access the code via the obd2 port.
What are Capa charging you to unlock it?

Thanks for your replies!
I found the code ("12RB") on the bottom of the PCM with a mirror which means I won't have to drill out the earthing rivet (photo attached of where I found the sticker - hopefully it'll help someone else). CAPA is charging me $75 to unlock and $75 to put in AU xr8 220 generic tunes. Good value and CAPA are good to deal with too. Some local performance shops were going to charge $175 just to send it back to CAPA directly to unlock (ie $100 for posting it!) Furthermore this dispels that a Flasher box locked to another car's VIN (my previous XR6T) needs to be sent back to SCT in America for unlocking. Still got 3 lives left for my BF XR6T (when I get it) and beyond! Mark Last edited by markxr6t; 21-03-2012 at 12:26 AM. |
