I'm wandering if its possible, having premium sound fitted in my XR, can you put and run an aftermarket sub off the factory amp? People say you can but i don't know for sure. It may be a stupid question but i have the equipent but unsure.

I dont see why nt, its just that the amp is most likely not very powerfull, and the result may not have the desired effect.

Plug it in and try it!
Are you basically upgrading the crappy one in the parcel shelf? In which case yes of course it will work! **BUT** Make sure the impedance (ohms) and power is compatible with the amp output. You CAN buy a better unit than the factory one, and still be compatible. However, the easiest way to do it is to fit a new AMP as well as SUB, patching in to the sub output (the feed IN to the factory amp) and use that as input to your new amp.

THEN you'll want to upgrade the speakers coz they cant keep up with the sub..then you gotta upgrade the head unit to run the flash new speakers..its a nasty cycle...ive been sucked into it...and love it
