Hey guys, i just became the very proud owner of an AU2 Fairmont ghia. it has a nice set of 5 spoke 18" rims on it but still retains the standard springs and shocks. so it rides like a landcruiser. I'm a family man so i'm looking for "uderstated cool" not sparks. thanks for the help and the great forum.

i would'ov said till it touches the floor lolz haha ...
but family? i'd say 2.5" Super Lows all round will make it look HOT ... and with the excess load in the back, the back will drop to make it look lower ;)

Superlows or XR springs (Lows), would be all you'd need. Superlows will drop it around 40mm from standard, XR springs/Lows will drop around 25 to 30mm from standard. A 2.5" drop (that's 63mm) is more like Ultra lows, and would be too low for a family car - great for a go kart though. Being a ghia, it will have IRS, so make sure you get the IRS springs, and not the live axle ones.
You may also need a rear camber kit for the ghia - XRs came with one standard, but I don't think the ghias did, so you may wear the inside or outside edge of the tyre without the IRS rear camber kit. Also you won't know if you need a front camber kit until you get an alignment - some people find that there is still enough adjustment, others find they need the camber kit on the front - it's luck of the draw really.

Thanks for thr replies guys, i've booked her in to get super lows fitted all round. i will see how that looks may need to go a little lower in the rear to make her sit level, but will see on the day.
