Default Christmas ...bah Humbug!!

:

I have just realised it less than 3 weeks till Christmas and I have not bought a single present...not a single Christmas card and only just finished putting up the tree. I am over Christmas already and it is not even here yet!

I used to love Christmas and everything it stood for....

* Beer
* Friends popping over
* Food until you couldn't eat anymore
* Boxing Day Test
* Gifts - the whole giving and receiving
* More Beer
* The kids faces on Christmas day opening their presents
* 2 weeks off work
* Popping over to friends
* Drives to the beach
* Sunday Picnics
* MORE BEER
* Even the 10 extra kilos at the end of it all!

Normally I make everyone sick with Christmas cheer and nearly always have my shopping done by September...But this year there seems to be no Christmas joy, No Christmas spirit..everyone you talk to seems to have the Christmas blues!

I think I am turning into the GRINCH!

Hubby said because I have been good he was going to buy me a Landau for Christmas!

PLEASE...A LANDAU!! I would rather drive a FIAT RICER!

I kindly informed him I will get him a divorce for Christmas...One of us will be happy!..After all these years (and it has been 22!)...He still doesn't know what to get me! Guess I better get ready for the "Annual box of Roses Chocolates, the Christmas CD and the never ending socks!!"

This year I say to everyone....CHRISTMAS! BAH HUMBUG!!

Bite your tongue!

Personally though, I agree with the "BAH! HUMBUG!" part. About all I look forward to nowadays is spending time with the family.....although, I don't watch cricket, I don't drink beer, and the only days off I have are Christmas and Boxing day (NO! I will NOT be watching the bloody stupid boat race either )

Go the divorce, find a woman that appreciates the finer things

as for christmas/go-straight-to-hell-if-you-don't-spendspendspend day, we get off quite nicely.. Our 'kids' are a rottweiler and a ridgeback/shepherd/mastiff X, and both my wife's and my families are in NZ.

apart from being with family etc, I think for most people christmas lost any real significance years ago. Apart from being the time of year that the bills mount up, and you HAVE to buy stuff for EVERYONE.

My wife and her friend have always gone thru the motions of buying each other gifts for the last few years, and its always been appreciated, but this year they came up with a good idea.
Instead of spending $xx on each other, they decided they'll pool their cash, and buy food for an animal shelter.

now if everyone did that (or similar), instead of worrying if aunty Maud will like the colour of (random piece of clothing etc), Christmas would actually mean something again.

something to think about?

EDIT: I thought black was the one colour that doesn't 'clash' :

Christmas is a time of the year that I don't really like. It's just an over commercialised period of the year that has become far too expensive. If I had my way I'd dissapear during Christmas so I wouldn't have to experience the same old crap year in year out....But friends and family make that something of an impossible dream I'm afraid.
Feel free to label me a Grinch if you like, But I'd love to treat December 25 as just another day.

my sentiments also, this year i'm dissapearing o/s, getting something out of it instead of wasting the time off work, i think christmas is a waste of time & money, i'd rather work & take my hols when i want them & when everything is not a rip off, airfares accom etc.
this year for me Dec 25 is just another day

my life is fantastic....I just don't do the same things other people do. I also don't attach any religious significance to that day.....I'm not that gullible.

My step father in law both the mother in law some presents for Christmas. She complained it was a waste of money, something she didn't want and she got upset about it. 8 months later he died. This year. She is more upset now. Sometimes, complaining about the material things really is not worth the breath. Because whats important is the thought and that's all that counts.

Man I must be losing it. Slap me quick. Christmas spirit has possessed me.

Stepping onto the "Bah Humbug" bandwagon, havent had the day of for 6 years, so im always tired, grumpy, family fights, everyoe is stressed because xmas lunch has to be "PERFECT".

This year was going to be perfect the whole familys on the coast, staying at unit in alex, and having xmas day there, but now they all whinge about price, and its too late to organise anything esle, so all them noisy family members will be here while im trying to sleep during the day, and I have to find a kennel to put the dog in as the cousins are bringing their littlies - a kennel - with 3 weeks to go! what are they thinking?

Well I have to admit to not being in the real christmas spirit, there is no tree put up, no decorations and absolute no cheer :

I am looking forward to the day off (it is the only one I have been promised so that is good) and I have full intentions on sitting in my brother's outdoor spa and drink wine :

I have bought the pressies though

Mick if you get really stuck, I will look after your dog for you. Mine doesn't know how to be a real dog and live outside full time so that won't be an issue.

The joy of Christmas this year just hasnt been the same. It doesnt help that they bring stuff out months before Christmas, by the time it gets near your over it already. Saw on Today Tonight or one of those lastnight that Santas in shops have been banned from saying 'ho ho ho' because it can be offending to women and children. Christmas spirit is slowly been taken away :(
On the upside I still love Buying and receiving prezzies and cant wait for it

I dont really care about Christmas to be honest. As long as I've had a few (read lot) drinks with the family I'm cool. Love the carazy presents we give each other. Thats really it.

I need the time off though that's for freakin sure. Haven't had a break all year.
