been driving the company car for the last few day's. new model navara T/D 6 speed manual (40,000 k's). what a gutless hunk of metal. the lag is absolute bullcrap, there is nothing under 2200, that's when the turbo decides to wake up.
the specs are as follow's 126kw@ 4000 403nm@ 2000 thats funny because if you nail the throttle @ 2000 there is that 200-300 rpm before you can here it spool up and something acually happens. also over 3500 it runs out of steam yet peak power is @ 4000 ???? i might add it will rev to 4500. dont try to take off from a hill if your not @ 2500 and slipping the clutch because it will stall (like it did today........ twice lol : ) also the gear ratio's are way to tall from 3-6th, yet 1-2 is way to low eg, come up to a corner at say 30k's, now if you choose 3rd to accelerate out its at about 1500revs (so no boost, change to 2nd and you lock the *** if you dont blip the throttle because its about 3500.) what are your thoughts?

well it must be vastly different to my neighbours new Navara.
The noise level is ridiculous, at its worst when it has a slight load eg. small hill It is louder than a F250 7.3 diesel by far. |

Firstly, sorry about the thread mining.
Just placed an order on a D40 ST-X 4X4 TD man. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Thought I might add, these were recently crash tested and received only one star safety rating. Nissan then put out an update for the airbag software which, when retested then received a 3 star rating. Anyone owning one of these should look into getting the recall done if you haven't done so already. As for the D22 re release, the engine is a detuned version of the 2.5, and it is really slow. Sounds like yours is a dud, ive been in a 07 2.5ltr Turbo Pathfinder, which is a Navara but in wagon form, and its bloody awsome, quiet, very smooth and pulls very well, handles a caravan no worries!

I have been in a few Nissan Nivaras and driven a couple of new ones not long ago.I recall going for a spin in Falcon Coupes award winning 1/4 mile beast he drives it like the Coupe maybe thats why it goes so hard.

We just got a few of these in 6 speed manual ST-X turbo diesel form. The following are some observations in relation to other similar type TD dual cabs not Mercs or BMW's.
Very quiet and smooth particulary compared to the old 3.0L Navara and the new Triton. Makes good power but is a little peaky, dosent have the torque spread of some of the new 3.0L's notably the ranger. Gearbox a little notchy but this may improve with some more kms Looks good in ST-X form and good equipment levels. Eg Cruise control Poor driving position with very little front seat room. Good rear seat room compared to the D22 Nice looking dash but all made of hard plastics Tarp need pull tabs on the sides as well as the back The most anoying seat belt alarm in the world Not excatly a full review but a few of my thoughts, Currently i'd put it 3rd behind the XLT Ranger, SR5 Hilux but ahead of the GL-X Triton and LT Rodeo |

Have you been in a D22 ? The D40 has around 70mm more legroom in the front, it's one of the main reasons i bought one. |
