Default Falcon GT Brisbane Motor Show

Don't think this has been posted but it appears that the most expensive vehicle at this years Brisbane Show is not some exotic Italian thoroughbred or other European work of art but a 37 year old Falcon.

The XY GT-HO Phase III is being auctioned by Shannons who expect the vehicle will fetch $780,000 when auctioned.

We live in interesting times, anyone going ? and if so a couple of pics of that GT would be nice.

I wasn't originally going to go, but after seeing that Dick Johnson will be in attendance next Saturday, I'll be there with bells on! I'll definitely be getting pics of the GT though.

For those interested it appears the GTHO was passed in at Sunday's Auction.

Just as a side note I see that a 2007 Cobra sold for $92,000, they had a rrp of $65,000, not a bad little profit.

Frosted Pewter manual phase 3 with history passed in for $700k... I think it's a sign that the collectable car market is starting to 'normalise'

This HO3 has been forsale for yonks.. it passed in at above current market value, just like every other car, they all passed in at above current good market values.. i think greed is getting the better part of people's judgement...

Yep. Couple that with people with enough knowledge to get them into trouble and a lot of cash and we have the current level of expectation.

What happened to the days when a millionaire was a shrewd businessman?

The cashed up carefree buyers are gone, the market is more fickle, and buyers now are enthusiasts who are astute, there are and will be big dollar sales, most of which we wont see or hear about, but the cars will need to stand upto the most comprehensive checks and will need to be perfect examples to fetch these prices, also IMO pristine UNRESTORED cars will be the ones that attract the premium prices in the future, not over restored or tarted up cash cows...
