Can anyone help me my Fairlane has an oil leak around the VCT and we've done as Ford instructed and it still leaks. Just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and how it was repaired.
I've read this is a common problem with AUs with the VCT. |

Is it the rocker gasket over the VCT solinoid? (The 2 VCTs ive had had a slight leak there).
If so yes its common, and very simple to fix,You dont need a new rocker gasket They're $77 yes thats $77 from ford, just remove the rocker cover and put a bit of gasket sealant around the the radius of the VCT housing and especially at the base on each corner. I just did my lifters on our VCT ghia and even "fraud" put extra sealant there from factory/or first service. Now if its bellow the VCT housing its the the front timing case and needs removing and resealing, allittle more tricky but doable.

I am having a similar problem on a VCT ford AU. It has been back to Ford multiple times and they have not been able to fix it. They have used silicone sealant twice and replace the VCT twice. They gave up in the end, advising that the head must have a warp in it. But I am skeptical about that. I think it just got too hard to find the leak.
It anyone else has any info it would be appreciated. |
