the thing that go me into ford is that grandma and pa brought a ed futura so granny can go to dialisys and 4 years and 350 thousand kms later and not a single problem with the futura classic nad when my grandparent passed away mum brought a new el xr6 in hot chilli red and i loved it, and that is how i became to love fords |

I think it needs an 'other' option !
But my mate bought an XF ute and i thought the shape of that thing looked awesome, it was just so cool! so i bought an XG, then an EL, then an AU! Im 19 now still with the AU and another XG!

Parents weren't fussed either way (massive fans of both Brocky and Dick Johnson) but the old man had a XR6 as a work car that I loved when I was young and that got me started on the Ford path.

I'm not really tied to either, was a Valiant/Mopar/Chrysler nut years ago but now I just buy what takes my eye/is affodrable/looks good/ etc, regardless of make.
I have had a lot more Fords than Holdens over the 13 years. My last Holden was a VH Group 3 SS Commodore. Ford do make a more comfortable car that can be bought $000's cheaper 2nd hand than Holdens. I don't like the look of the VE except in the sports models, same with the FG. |

Im a Mopar nut myself, but for a daily v8 driver i chose my falcon.
Had a few commodores. an HQ, a coupla vals (kept one), a WH stato. an F100 and its always been a thing about v8's with me. Just the arrogance from the holden camp turned me off, sure its everywhere, but just a little more pronounced.

I chose option 1 "I used to drive a Commodore ..." though it really should read Torana(s) rather than Commodore
I changed camps in the late 80's/early 90's after a brief flirtation with 4WD's during the VN vs EA period. Why?
Besides any E-series is much better looking and built than VN/P/R etc. Though I still prefer the older (real) Holdens, FX thru HZ.

Although growing up surronded by the Holden faithful I converted, reasons;
A neighbour used to have a XB hardtop, absolutely brilliant car The first time I saw a restored XP wagon (love at first sight) Finally my first car the XF Fairmont not a great car but a fantastic cruiser

Not enough options. There should have been one that said, "I was a holden driver till they made a commodore and I : ".
I was an early holden fan and still am but they lost me the day the first crapadore rolled off the production line. Ugly as sin, built of tin cans and gutless. To this day I still haven't seen a commode-door I liked; except maybe the odd late model Monaro. Having said that I held on to my early holdens till well into the 90's cos I wouldn't touch any 80's car with a barge pole, they're all rattly, plastic coated tin cans as far as I'm concerned. Then I drove an ED Futura and was quite impressed with it's room and overall look and feel so now it's Ford all the way. You couldn't pay me to drive a modern holden and if I was given one I'd sell it and buy a Ford. Bushbasher

My Mother had an XA when I was younger which was the first Ford in the family and then my Brother got an XT which had a big pair of lips on the front and door handles and a woolf whistle for a horn stocko wheels on the front with the jellybean wheels on the back, My sister also had an XT falcon aswell same colour (Metallic Blue) but no stupid stuff on it. So that was kinda the start of the Ford affair for me.
The real clincher was the sound of a 351 Cleveland at Full Loud Pedal climbing the mountain and also seeing the XB Hardtops pass the Toranas like they were nothing down Conrod was just spectaular. I mean, for such a big cumbersome car with a diff ratio for Conrod, they STILL kept up with the Toranas across the top of the mountain but come Forrest Elbow and Conrod just saw the 351 skip away from the Holdens. That to me was the Real clincher...

Dad had always bought Fords, expecially remember the ZH Fairlane. But the most important moment was that infamous day in October 1977 (Ford XC 1-2) that I will never forget!
