Cool How far can we go with std BF Typhoon ?

Hi Chris , my name is Brent , i have a good friend on the coast by the name of "DAZZLER" i,m sure everyone has heard of him ....
Anyway he changed my thermostat on the weekend and fitted the Airbox that was on his car to my car so the question now is .. How much for a flashbox + custom tune keeping in mind i WONT be changing fuel pumps or injectors any time soon ?
But we both plan to race this car at street meets for a few months anyway ......

Hi Brent,

the BF typhoon is a champion car right out of the blocks. Having said that, tuning with the XCAL3 is a breeze, and results on an otherwise stock car can be awesome.

our forum members price is $1595 for the new XCAL3 with 3 of our tunes installed. All that is required is some plug gapping, a cooler thermostat (included) and you are free to play.

We can be contacted on 03 9305 3000 if you wish to place an order.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,
If I put one of your airboxes on my typhoon, will it need to be tuned? Also will I get similar results as when you put it on an XR8/GT ? Thanks

Hi Ceva,

with any turbo6, the airbox will give a little more boost in a handier place, making it a snug mod.

An XR8 needs it the most, the GT the second.

With a turbo6, dont forget that although the box works well, it will need to be tuned, and if you are planning a big power up later, the airbox will need to be discarded as the air direct into the turbo will be the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Well as you are probably aware the engine has been completely rebuilt.
Power is over 360 at the wheels on a 16psi tune that tapers mainly to 14psi
A few issues i have are ,Engine light on/rough idle/miss at 1750rpm
So where the car is , is how it needs to stay at present i cant take anymore time off work to fix this ongoing saga...
Regardless of the warranty which still hasn,t been discussed, i am extremely dissilusioned by all that has happened and the lack of attention or pride given to my car being returned the way it should have been after spending the best part of $10000.

I want to discuss fine tuning what i have with you, daz wont leave me alone and has had it with my tuner.
You guys "Keep it real" as he says, so i am prepared to pay for another tune and fax afr's, dyno printouts, parts bought and bits modified etc , to satisfy what you didn,t want to undertake over the post before?
I just want the car NORMAL to drive under low boost , not the pig of a thing i have now.
I dont need to rotate the earth ( 370 should be achievable?) just to enjoy this car again .
At the same time achieving what i put this thing together for, a low 11 street car.
Please help....
Brent.

P.s : Wish i had driven down to you guys in the first place...

Hi mate,

I am sorry to hear of your dilemma, it is nearly impossible to handle this kind of thing through the post.

I think the lack of a surge tank style fuel system is the cause??

Hope you guys can sort it soon,

Chris

Question

Ok so after a dissapointing night last night , best mph 122 best ET 12.0 , whats involved in flying one of you rocket scientists up here for a day to tune mine on E85 some more and the Typhoon @ 17/20 + psi boost ??

We are both ready to hit the strip with slicks and pull max weight out of these things..
You pick the place with the dyno ( Elite/Hi-Torque/Power Torque?), we will pay for airfares and all cost involved (your time etc)and pick you up/ drop you back..
Take it to PM either bj777 or myself if you are interested...

How busy in the next month are you and Theo ???

Also 2 x X/cal 3's will need to be provided as we both have the original X/cal 1 boxes and my other tuner has finally run out of hits...

Cheers Daz.

Theo and Chris are always busy boys but I am sure they were planning a trip up that way in the last quarter of this year.

Hi Darren,

travelling to QLD and NSW for tuning purposes is no longer feasible for us, particulary in the light that in both states there are some excellent tuners on hand that can handle many a wide application of vehicles.

We have an outstanding and ongoing relationship with several firms, Elite Automotive and CPV tuning , Aitkenvale auto and dyno, Power torque and Hi torque.

In Brisbane, we are more than satisfied with the customer response we recieve from our major brisbane dealer in Elite, and the lengths they go to in meeting customers desires.

I think this thread has run its course, thankyou to all contributors.

Regards

Chris
