Default Sandown Historic 2009 pics. “Warning large files”

Here’s a few pics from Saturday at Sandown. I spent most of the day at the Roaring Forties stand and the cars on display attracted a great deal of interest. My engine was on display in an RF chassis that was assembled for the show to give people who don’t usually see what these things look like as a bare chassis.

It was a great privilege to have Sir Jack Brabham come over and check the car out. He was more than pleased with what we had on display and how the latest technology was put into these cars.

John Bowe was driving Iain Pretty’s RF GT 40 race car that was brought down from Sydney for the event. This car is a mega dollar build up and is very quick. I’ll have more pics of it tomorrow.

Enjoy the pics.

Cheers

I’ll have a few more pics to post up when it’s all finished tomorrow.

G’day Cam,
Some of those Toranas are a work of art. It still puts a chill down your spine when you see these things revved in anger.

I’ll have more pics of Iain Pretty’s RF GT 40 today and hopefully get a few of it when John Bowe gets it out on the track.

I’ll also try and get more pics of the cars that I missed yesterday.

this, remember, is 2 full years after the last VL was produced. What a legendary car.

if the sierra's were not forced to carry an extra 80kgs in that race, the ****ingshaw would not have got near them. even with the extra weight (the equivalent of an extra passenger for 6 hours), a sierra still finished with 15 seconds of it

i am sorry but i have no time for the ****inshaw - it had mega dollars spent on it to win one race and failed miserably at that - even the illegal ones were too slow. it only had success because the other cars were penalised for beating it

That pretty much sums up much of Holdens race history doesn't it, get wins when there's little or no competition or had the competition nobbled ie. AU, A9X era.

And whats fords?
pulling out when it gets tough and using Euro cars that people cant relate too?

Good on that VL, was a happy day.

that vl only won because the sierra's were penalised for being too good. perhaps one of the reasons ford keep reassessing it motorsport option is because they, like the majority of their fans are sick of having the rules changed to allow holden to win

but seeing how you thought it was a good day, you must think that penalising the best is good for the sport. i assume you think it is correct in f1 too
