Hey guys,
I got my hand on a set of Jim Mock DEV "Street-Fighter" Mandrel Bent Headers for my AU. I have been told that these are the same as the pacemaker 4499? Can any one confirm this? Reason being is that I hope to get the extractors fitted up shortly but the exhaust shop is worried that the lpg mixer will be in the way. Now I beleive that the 4499 alow enough space for the mixer to remain in place. Could this be confirmed too please? My brother had a set of genies fitted on his AU and he has the same lpg setup as mine. His extractors come close to the mixer, but there is enough space. Are the genies a simalr size to the pacies/JMM extractors? Thanks in advance. |

Depending on your type of converter. Some clear but others are too close (it's not a good idea to get the converter too hot) so they can relocate your converter for you or fit one that is smaller..once again depending on your setup.

I had this problem initially.
I have pacemaker 4480's and found that the relocation of the gas coverter was in order to fit the headers. Mind you, I had the big tickford Vialle gas converter so it was much larger than an Impco version that are mostly fitted with after market systems. If you have a smaller converter, the pacemaker 4499's will just fit past, but you must fit the manufacturers heat shield to the converter. I think 20mm clearance minimum from the heat shield was recommended IIRC.

What are peoples opinions? Would it be better to relocate the gas converter or replace it with a smaller converter? Cheers, Brent. |

The BA header tanks are smaller in size but they sit more flush with the shocker tower and there for you can mount the converter more freely and it will still clear the extractors. A lot of ballsing around I know, but it looks like a neater option. Otherwise you can relocated it further forward to the front of the car and a bit lower, but you MAY need to extend/cut lpg lines to make it fit neatly.

When i got my ute done, the plan was to get pacemakers put in, but my converter is huge. so they had to get in some advance headers, apparently No. 3 pipe on these is tucked in more.
the converter is one ugly unit! Looks like it needs a wash hehe

If your getting a exhaust shop to fit it, they will just move the converter onto a metal plate and put it accordingly, shouldn't be a hassle but yes if u have the 4499's makes life a lot easier

um...when I asked the exhaust mob I went to, to move my converter, they wouldnt touch it, and that was with 4499's at the time.
To be sure, ask the exhaust mob you decide with, if they are prepared to move the converter to a more convenient location and warranty that modification.

I believe a lot of parts are shared between the poliauto's and the Vialle F-types, they are kind of sister units
