Default How many rpms at 160 kmph in 1st gear in an au?

I love first gear. I hold it in and the car screams up and keeps going until my dreaded 6400 rpm rev limiter kicks in...its depressing. To reach 160 kmph in first gear I was wondering how many revs would I be pulling? 10000 rpm? 12000rpm? I know it wont be happening but theoretically what would rpm would it be?

Observe RPM @ 40 kph. Multiply by 4.
Or disable limiter an tell us how high it goes.

Apart from the obvious answer of "Too Many"

To work out the RPM for a particular speed (or speed for a particular RPM) you need the following information:
Ratio of gear
Diff Ratio
Driven tyre size

If you post those details, I can give you an answer.
If you

For our 3.9's, it would be 12675rpm.

Our engines can spin to 7500 rpm stock bottom end I have heard before it goes bung. I suppose 7500 rpm is better than 6400..I wonder how that would go?

Well, if I take off in first, and manually shift to second, I'm pushing redline at around 80km/h.

6400rpm isn't the stock limiter is it? I'm pretty sure I hit my rev limiter before then, but mine is dead stock.

you could probably do it with a really long diff ratio, the only problem is how long it would take to get there...

Wheels magazine reckons the limiter was 5600prm? I've had mine up to 5900rpm on LPG, was doing about 100kmh.

i think the rev limiter on the au's cuts injectors, so if you are on an lpg mixer system it will probably rev higher. i was also wondering if the speed limiter is affected on lpg, although i don't know if i want to find out. i reckon it would be a pretty big bang if it happened to cut spark and you built up unburnt gas in the motor...

Na the LPG set up over rides the injected limiter/s, back a few years a go when I was younger and pretty stupid behind the wheel, I had mine up to an indicated 200kmh (yes I know why they are limited from the factory), and as mentioned about 5900rpm in first gear. Was a bit of an eye opener when I realised I was doing 100 in first, usually only see that on the motor bike haha.

Just note what speed you're doing next time at 6400rpm, divide it by that number, and then multiply it by 160.

Example -
Let's assume your car does 90kph at 6400rpm, so -
6400 / 90 = 71.1
71.1 X 160 = 11376

So you'd be doing 11376rpm at 160kph.

And i'd add $50 to see that tested.

So far there is a total of $250 i reckon this might almost be on the cards??

15 people x $50 = 750 so only another 10 needed or split it between more.

I wanna see it go to the grave

Just my two bobs worth.

50 bucks is a cheap way of finding out how far you can take your engine.. imagine finding out the hard way
keep im mind monty's heads are ported and he has a big cam so most of us probably wouldnt even be able to wind our engines up that far
im starting to get more and more interested

I'm not gonna donate $50 because in all reality I don't care how far a stock block can go till it goes boom, or at how many rpm!

But I will come down and film for ya Josh, haha
