I somehow got a puncture thru the sidewall of the tyre. Not repairable..
Continental 195/45/16 are $360 ea fitted and balanced !!!! Why ? because its a european tyre size not an Aussie tyre size, limited stock. !! So, I got the Hankook fitted and balanced for $199. When all four need replacing they advised to go to 205/45/16 at $250ea fitted and balanced. No, I'll get the Hankooks. If thats the price for the ordinary Fez, whats the price for the special Fez Econetic tyres !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My MK7 Zetec has the same sized tyres as my MK5 Zetec. When I had to replace the front wheels, Maxxis tyres weren't available (I hate to say it but the Maxxis tyres were bloody unreal, sublime grip and long durability) and the cheapest was some weird brand for $139 IIRC? Some of the better brands were over $200 as you suggest. Don't even buy through Ford if you can help it, they sting you as parts is where they make their money. Unless your dealer is where I got my car from (pacific Ford), they always look after me on parts etc.
I got the same excuse with the tyre size, but don't put 205's on there as if you have a crash your insurance company won't cover it. It's bigger than recommended and they'll find a way to get out of paying you up.

Thanks for the reply...They offered me another brand I had never heard of for $149. Maxxis I was quoted $250. I have put the back two tyres on the front and the rear now has the Hankook with the Continental. Tyres for my Fairmont Ghia ,(Goodyear Excellence 225/17/50),are cheaper than a Fez tyre !!!!
Consumable items, like tyres, Ford need to get cheaper to keep the cost down .

You are talking fairly good Euro tyres ... they're not run of the mill stuff ... even generic 14" tyres for a small car are now about $110 ea, prices have gone up. $360 ea does seem very expensive, but understandable if they have limited stock.
The Hankook Evo's are a fantastic tyre, $199 is a good price (if that's what they were) |

Toyo Proxe T1Rs are less than $250 each, $220 for a 205/45/16, but check the manual to see if they're an option in that size. In theory they are, but your insurance company might not agree.
Superb tyre.

We get screwed over big time for most things in this country but car tyre prices in Australia are completely insane! ... they would have to be one of the biggest single rip-offs in this country period!
Check out these prices in the UK .. http://www.blackcircles.com/ If you do a quick search you will see that quality Continental tyres in the 195/45R16 size are between 76 pounds to 92 pounds fully fitted! ... that's $152.85 each even for the dearest ones! So where do our Australian tyre shops get off charging more than twice that amount? ... it's an absolute rip-off, that's all it is. For the record an excellent tyre I would very much recommend as an alternative for your WS Fiesta's would be the Toyo Teo-Plus which come in a 195/50R16 size. Long lasting, very grippy and extremely quiet top quality Japanese made tyre. http://www.toyo.com.au/TEO%20plus.htm |

Our Hankooks wore out at 40,000 ks on the front, got ZR1? Maxxis on it now, they are just as good and $150 bucks. I didn't realise Hankooks would be $200 I expected them to be 250+ so didn't even ask

Also, how common are 195/50/15 tyres? I have them on my Fiesta and they're the Continentals.
