Default Dry Lake Racing

Anyone from here on the forums going to the salt racing?
It runs from the 8th to the 12th March here in South Oz at lake Gairdner.
I'll be attending for three of the days, great trip if you've got the time. A bit of camping and alot of drinking at night and watch the racing with a few more beers during the day.
Couple of pics from last year..

That rod looks tough. What speed did it manage?

Luke from FUEL Magazine will be down there taking pictures. Possibly an article.

If you've got a car down there, get in his ear and tell him that Andrew Mara told you to chat to him... then twist his arm to take some photos of your car.

If you look at the photography in this, you'll want to get your car shot by him.

Not me, but a bloke from the local Perth motorbike forum is heading over with a turbo Hayabusa.

The DLRA week is another one of my 'to do' list

Would love to take the truck down there one year (spectating/camping - dunno about a run!)... Is it really remote?

Its reasonably remote but you can buy fuel from a station there and theres a canteen which sells just about everything near on the lake itself..

How much does the sand slow you down.

The only sand is the track travelling out to where you race. The racers actually race on a salt lake bed which in most places is rock hard.

A mate of mine is planning on heading out there in a few years time, going to break the land speed record for a CT110. :
Might head out next year. Looks like fun.

What are the conditions to race?

Certainly in my bucket list. I'm thinking in a boosted i6 AU Falcon you could do 200mph or 180mph in an XK-XM.
