It would be alot harder to convert a AU1 forte to AU2 forte than it would be to convert a AU1 forte to a AU1 Fairmont

the electrical differences between AU1 and 2 is huge.
to convert your dash to a AU1 fairmont only requires a heaterbox on dash and a quick trip to ford (to program your new keys to the new dash)

more info on the fairmont conversion

the dash will fit no problem but there are differences in the looms. you can transfer the loom from your 1 dash to a two/three, if you then want to use the 2/3 centre fascia as well you will need to relocate some wires to the controls and vacuum lines, heater cable.
