OK, anyone know how to jack up the Mondeo so that I can get axle stands under the jacking points on the sills? There are supposedly "lifting" points behind the front wheels but I'm not sure where these are.

go down to the local tyre shop and ask where they would stick their trolley jacks as they don't put them on the jacking points.

Hello - this info was posted elsewhere for a Mk4 Mondeo. The diagram comes from the Ford TIS system aparently.
