hi guys and girls i have a 1999 au1 xr8 done 200,000kms and here are the problems
the motor has a bad vibration at about 1100RPM the auto sometimes changes gears ruff and the LSD has a really annoying wine i was wondering whats the best oil to use in the gearbox and diff, and why is the motor vibrating so bad its really annoying

probably needs new plugs and leads .
if you look at the motor on idle has it got the wobbly boot on? |

Does the engine vibration decrease with engine revs? If so, replace the harmonic balancer....They have a habit of crudding themselves and causing the vibration you describe

no the vibration calms down when you rev it i replaced the leads still there i just pulled a spark plug out and they are really bad i think they may be the problem

start by doing plugs and leads, also clean MAF and throttle body, if that doesnt fix it then harmonic balancer would be the next bet.
Transmax Z is what I use in the gearbox (but mine is manual) and SAF-XA for the diff.

I destroyed a harmonic balancer on my old nf v8, the mechanic told me originally the vibration was caused by dirty injectors when all along it was just the balancer detatching itself, it also calmed down at about 1500 revs and upwards

Vibration is the balancer or engine mounts.
Transmission needs Castrol TQ95. |

at 200K it probably has the original coil pack and it is way past it's use by date. a dodgy coild pack can cause the problem you describe

Most falcon diffs practically whine from factory. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Change the diff fluid.
Likewise with the auto, do a full fluid flush (not just a drop pan). If this doesn't fix it you might have a dud solenoid. While your doing the flush, it's a good idea to install a external transmission cooler from ebay and have it bypass the radiator. Not too expensive. Vibration definetely sounds like harmonic balancer at those RPM. They tend to cause most troubles between 1000-1500rpm.

Ok I got new plugs and no luck looks like its the balancer

i also replaced the radio buttons on the steering wheel today and now my after market jvc stereo won't work dose anyone know what it could be ?

the buttons i put in are off my series 2 au fairlane i wrecked so id say thats what it is then thanks
