Default Misc AU Issues.

I'm at the final stage of getting the car ready for its roadworthy. There's just a couple of final issues left over.

1. My fuel guage is reading constantly at 0-15kms of fuel.

2. I have no brake lights; I have park lights but no brake lights what so ever. I checked the filament on the tail light bulbs and they're both fine and the spoiler and parcel shelf lights don't come on either. I've checked my interior fuses, but they're all good.

3. Can't get the tamperproof torx screws out of the steering wheel. I've got tamperproof sets, but the pin on the screws are too large for my sets to work. Is there a Ford version?

4. Whilst I had the wheels off, I noticed this on the diff. I'll replace it during the wheek, but am a little curious as to what this line is for.

Hose from diff is just a breather, cut it off and push it back in
Tail lights / brake light I would first test the switch in the foot well above the brake pedal to see if it is getting power, if it is short it out and check lights again ,if it has power and still don't work and the tail light plugs/ globe holders are the original white ( ? ) ones piff them for the BA ones which are a tougher plastic .
the rest not sure

yea for number 2 id check the brake pedal switch thing in the footwell.

At Winton my mates EF brakes were not working so we couldn't pass scrutineering, we popped in mine and sure enough they worked.

1 - Sounds like your fuel gauge sender in the tank has died.
2 - Brake pedal switch.
3 - Sounds like you got a poorly cast bit if it won't fit, they should all fit. I bought a generic set on Ebay and it fit just fine. Drill out your torx bit till it does fit.
4 - Diff breather.

Did the AU1 have those stupid 5 point torx over the usual 6?

If so, you can grind a bit out of the middle of a flat head screw drivers bit and use that. You will probably brake the bit though, I broke 3 getting the 2 screws out. Needless to say, they just have regular bolts in them now!

I borrowed the torx tool from a mate and while I had them off I cut a groove in each so now it can be undone by a flathead screwdriver.
