Ive decided im going to sell my ute. I havent touched it in over a year since putting on new wheels and brembos. Ive lost interest in an ongoing build because its an XR8. I dont want a run of the mill. Although my build would be individual to me its only ever going to lose value (been here before). I am considering a P250 or something old like an XR ute. Something that is going to hold value yet maintains its versatility.
My car requires a little TLC before i sell it, but i dont want to over capitalise on the car. As it stands, to make it a neat and better functioning ute I need to replace the sensor in the overflow, intake air temp sensor, new intake to suit acron box, repair a dent in my tailgate, freshen up front end paint, new drivers door lock actuator, replace verticle plastic strips along side blind spot windows, repair handbrake cable and repaint headers. Car has 167k kms, p4001's into twin 100 cell cats into dumps, F&R whiteline non adjustables, MSD coils and leads, new momo gear knob, fairlane sw, staggered 19's and front 4piston brembos w/ brembo discs (plus some maintenance stuff). I know its hard to tell without photos or seeing it in the flesh. A P250 is the likely choice. Do i take off the parts that i can transfer across and just neaten up my current ute. How far do i go?

XR8's are run of the mill now? I'm lucky to see one a week, of any flavour.

That's a shame, are you sure you won't regret the decision long term? it's sounds like a nice car. With the minor repairs you mentioned, you may find yourself loving the car again and gain enthusiasm for it?

This was a thought also. The way i look at it is ill be spending some money on my car to end up with what basically a p250 starts off as, to sell it down the track for half of what a p250 is worth. Its such a buyers market right now for said utes thats it seems hard to justify money on mods, as opposed to buying a car with a build number and make few minor mods to a result to what only a large amount of coin will achieve with my current ute.

There are a couple of really well priced P250's out there at the moment, this one included:
http://fordforums.com.au/showthread....30#post5094230 If you take the Brembo's off your car it's a straight swap on to a P250 if the one you buy doesn't have them.

You won't get that much extra for your XR8 with those mods as opposed to leaving it closer to stock, especially if it's Joe Public who buys it (as opposed to a fellow AFF'er / auto enthusiast)...

If you're after something that isn't so run of the mill you can't beat a 70's car but all depends what you really want , your budget , tedtored or un testored, if you want some thing that will hold its value both short and longer term etc
Personally I wouldn't be pumping money into an AU but that's just me ( my 2 cents worth) |

I was thinking xp or xr ute. However, it does need to be pretty much a driver. That factored in plus swapping over parts is why i was thinking p250

Mines been for sale for about 3 months at 8k. Close to the cheapest on carsales and I've had 1 email offer of 5k.
134,000km, leather, manual and the only problem is the gas converter needs a rebuild. Their definitely not moving fast. Tempted to remove the gas system and try my luck. I have no interest in fixing it cause I work away and do 50km a month.
