Like the green.
Don't like the design of the wheels. While paddle shifters may be a step forward I didn't care for the 6L80-E in my SSV ute, blipping on downshifts was good but everything else was crappy compared to the ZF. I think the flappy paddles will suck in a lot of buyers though. |

Back on topic... Paddle shift whilst sounds good, I am just not sure it would be as good as it sounds. If it can complete fast up and down changes then fine, I am just cynical. The EPAS changes interest me, wonder why these were brought in.

... but dat Boss! While I agree with this sentiment, I just ******* love cars. All of them. So I care. Especially at a time when powerful 4dr sedans are soon to be heritage-listed and unavailable to buy new (well, unless you want a 6-figure Merc, Audi or Beemer) it seems trite to **** on the other camp? |

Yeah I don’t ever see myself owning a Holden badged vehicle but that doesn’t stop me from reading and admiring some of them, there’s such a thing as respecting the enemy.

Drove a Camaro whilst in the USA and have to agree with that sentiment. Was cool for about 10 minutes before it annoyed the crap out of me.

If I was going have a performance car in auto, I'd like paddles. Drove a Gallardo with paddles a couple of years ago, it was great and changed very quickly. This was on a race track so foot buried to the floor accelerating up to 200 odd kmh with lighting fast gear charges was a good thing.
Doubt I would ever use in day to day use. |

I have Jaguar here in Singapore with flappy paddles and I never use them. Mind you it is a diesel and hence not a sporty, high revving engine. Still prefer my manual XR6T.

Paddles are great, but if there is any kind of lag in the auto with shifts then it's a waste of time. Basically needs to be a world class box to benefit from paddles.

Wife's Honda Euro has paddles, they work great & is a lot of fun to use. The shift up or down is instant, leaving both hands on the wheel.

Paddles schmaddles. Didn't one of the iterations of the AU Tickfords have shift buttons on the steering wheel??
And where is the LS3?

I suspect paddles would be the same as sequential sports shift in everyday driving, fun for all of 5 minutes then way to much effort to bother using.

The only time paddles are good is when you have a stupid gearbox calibration and you know when that particular car struggles under certain circumstances.
Other than that....get a manual.

Even top notch manuals are using a paddle or button system. It's not new technology, formula 1 was using it in the late 80's.

Hmm mustn't be that obvious because I have, I see the gimmick in it but certainly dont believe those few milli seconds are worth the loss of involvement when driving a nice car.

You may not like a "gimmick" but someone else might. At the end, it's up to the buyer. I would pay extra for the option. As mentioned, my wifes Honda has it. The set up works very well, the shifts are instant and it feels safer than taking a hand of the steering wheel. I don't use it very often, but when I do it puts a smile on my face.

I have flappy paddles on my 2007 liberty GT now, and this is news worthy for Holden in 2014?
That said, as long as the timing of the gear changes matches the drivers, then it will be good. If there is any delay, forget it.
