It has been reported on some forums that Australian former racing car driver and constructor Frank Matich passed away earlier this evening. He had been ill for some time following complications from knee surgery.

Another legend gone. Frank Matich could have been anything in the motor racing world. It's a tragedy he never went to Europe, what might have been......

Very sad, condolences to his family. I remember him racing in the 70's. RIP.
