Default Fairmont dash conversion into forte wagon

Hi guys I know this has been done before but I want to clarify a few things before I actually tackle this project. I currently have a AU Forte wagon built 6/99 and suspect my heater core is leaking so I was thinking if I'm going to pull the dash and heater box out I might as well convert it to a Fairmont style with climate. I know I have to use a complete Fairmont dash assembly and climate heater box, add the ambient temp sensor under the bonnet and use the High series BEM. Now the part I'm not sure about is in regards to the immobiliser. If I get a BEM and key from the same donor car do I still need to change the steering column? I'm confused about this part because I did a climate conversion on my VS SS a while ago and to make the car start all I had to do was change the BCM and key head. Any tips on this project would be much appreciated.

Hi. it will depend on if your car has smart lock or smart shield and if the donor is the same or the other way around. Cheers MD

Hi. If the donor for the BCM has the same type of remote and key as yours you wont need to change the column, if it has the 4 button remote or a key with a chip in it yopu will need to change the lot. Cheers MD

Thanks a lot for help just one other question beside obviously putting a new core in what other issues do the climate heater box have? I've been reading something about the blend door playing up.
