So I am driving along the Princes Hwy southbound at Sylvania in lane 3 at the intersection of Port Hacking Rd. (a T intersection) as I approach the intersection I have a green light but I can hear an ambulance with lights and siren operating in the vicinity I slow down and brake quickly as he is waiting to turn right across the 3 lanes on the highway and this happened.
And then shortly after. A two tonne bull bar equipped Landcruiser will do that to a Cougar. So this is the end for my baby no longer will I cruise to the sweet sounds of my 2.5 Duratec burbling away.........

It is sad to see that happen to any car cherished by their owner. Looking at the mods you have done you made it a sweet ride.
It must have not been pleasant sitting there seeing a Landcruiser looming in the rear vision mirror like that. Please check your private messages.

Yes it was an Eibach one of only 100 released by Ford.
End of an ERA for me.....there was nothing better than hitting 3400rpm and hearing her begin to howl like a banshee.

I should have mentioned that I have a few spare parts things like radiator hoses and some front end LED light bulbs that I never used if anyone is interested.

Thanks for those who contacted me however I won't be getting another one. I owned this car for 12 years and lately it had become a bit of a money pit.
Over the years it has had ALL the Cougar problems like the transmission failing, the fuel pump, the timing chain cover, the cracked factory wheels and numerous other problems. It was great owning such a head turning vehicle but no more for me. I am thinking something Mercedes.

Holy ****, hadn't been around these parts in quite some time and that's terribly tragic what's happened to your Kat there Dave!
Shame to hear you've had to call it quits. Mind you, the most important thing quite obviously is that nothing major happened to the person so hope allz well with you mate! Cheers |

Thanks mate but this is the end for my Cougar.
I lodged a claim with Shannons on the 27/6 and have still NOT been paid a month later. Considering this is a straight forward no fault claim there really is NO EXCUSE for them not paying my claim. All I get from my inquiries is that there is a "backlog" and it will be finalised "shortly". My advice DO NOT insure with Shannons as their service when claiming is abysmal.

Oh man, sorry Dave :/ I curse mine out whenever something goes wrong but I'd be absolutely heartbroken if anything happened to it so I have an idea on what you must have gone through that day. Main thing after an accident though is that you're alright.
On another note, sure you want a merc? It's only an 18 month wait list for a mustang

Finally been paid by Shannons on 5/8 nearly six weeks after the accident and really totally unacceptable and I will never insure with them again.
It is surprising the price of used Merc's and as I now have "extensive" experience in the import of car parts I have no qualms about buying one. By the way I have a number of new parts if anyone is interested.

thats crazy, since not your fault you shoulda got a hire car and sent them the bill.
what ****ed me off heaps is last crash where someone hit me I DIDNT HAVE INSURANCE NOR DID I HAVE ANY MONEY. so i was told to 'pay for a hire car and THEN WE WILL CONSIDER IF IT IS SUITABLE AND DECIDE TO PAY OR NOT' got comprehensive on my cars nowadays but wow getting in car accidents and insurance stuff sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wouldn't buy a merc mate, had one where part of the electronics in the transmission failed and it was up for a full rebuild. the fix was to stop the car and restart it. less than 40,000KMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stay away from mercs and BMW's. |
