Default 7th October 2016 - a black day in Australia's history

We as a nation took a backward step today and are moving ever closer to being a banana republic.

We've failed on more than just that.

Keating was lambasted and torn apart when he made that comment. Look where we are...

Today is a dark day, it will be darker still when Toyota and Holden close their doors...

G'day....Too late but Paul Keating for Ford Australia President after he retired from politics or kept Geoff Polites instead of some run of old gooses from Dearborn Michigan... They might have 'kept the bastards honest '...
Too bad he wasn't still Prime Minister instead of the current run of offerings both sides of the fence ..and I really do mean that...Very under rated bloke as pollies go..
I'll just start getting ready to eat a lot of banana cake and banana splits from now on.. Cheers Rod..

I think a bigger deal will be made on the media when Holden close.

despite the amount of workers at Toyota, I have a feeling it will just go unnoticed.

I'm genuinely worried about the future of this country. No one in Canberra inspires any form of confidence and when/if someone in the future does there will be nothing left for them to work with. We have done a great job of selling ourselves out.

Maybe we should move our Government offshore and have our country run from China, it would be a lot cheaper and efficient.

I get the feeling this comment is tongue in cheek. A smugness to it, coming across as dropped by the typical 'bloke' who feels the problem will be swept under the rug while focusing on which footy team is gonna be favourites next year or which **** factor double cab ute has the higher torque or tow rating.
All the while the Chinese are buying up pretty much everything that a country needs to sustain itself. Get ready for being a land lord in your own country and dictated to by an iron fist. Water and food are going to replace the 'must haves' of today, iPhones; Hyundais, double cab Utes, trendy Euro **** boxes. Five years or twenty it's gonna happen and your kids will farken hate ya for it!!

Somebody's head should roll for this. I am not an expert in trade or economics but I hardly think today's outcome was inevitable...
