Hello.

Are you talking complete cars? I'm no authority on them but a Model T is high on my bucket list of cars to own (once the Cortina's finished) I've been in touch with the clubs and to a few meetings and there doesn't seem to be a shortage of local cars at around 20 - 25k. The fan base seems to be the old timers and they're unfortunately dwindling, the rest are usually families enjoying their heirloom cars. Maybe talk with a few of the state clubs and gauge interest from there.

You can get a feel for which early Fords are currently for sale in Australia by visiting some of the local car selling websites, where you can do a search for make and year. www.carsguide.com.au www.carsales.com.au I just now tried a search for Fords prior to 1940 and getting less than 30 hits on these two sites combined. It looks like approx. half the cars for sale are hot-rodded, and approx. half are original spec, probably restored at some point in time. I have also looked through the December issue of 'Just Cars' magazine. (paper copy). It contains collector cars for sale. www.justcars.com.au Also here less than a handful in total of Fords prior to 1940. Interestingly, JustCars has a value guide towards the back, where they list Ford Model A Sedan / Tourer (vintage) as Condition 1 (Very good) AUD 17.100, Condition 2 (good / average) AUD 11.875, and Condition 3 (poor / basis for restoration) $ 4.275 This pricing guide is rather hypothetic with so few cars available, and you obviously can't restore one of these for the small cost difference between a CAT1 car and a CAT3 car, therefore those in very good condition would be most desired unless the future owner is planning hot-rodding. If you then take into consideration that the exchange rate USD to AUD is most unaffordable at the moment, and include the cost of transport, import clearance, Asbestos cleaning etc, the car would need to be at a very low purchase / sale cost out of US, in order to be attractive in AUS. Hi, and thanks for the response everyone. My partner and I are presently working on a deal to buy all or part of a large collection. The owner lives in another part of the country and we only have a few photos at this time. We have been told there are at least a hundred cars in various stages of completion. My guess is that most of them are not complete, but have photos of a few that are mostly complete, and appear to be in very good condition. Due to winter weather conditions we will be moving forward on this in the spring.
