Thanks for that,
Big numbers for Hilux 4x2 in comparison to Ranger 4x2, lots of fleet/business purchases for the Hilux 4x2 I reckon where as the Ranger and its huge 4x4 numbers in comparison to the 4x2 seems to be the fan amongst private buyers. Wonder how many of those 4x2 ones are workmate 2.7L unleaded banger |

New record for Everest. It's actually starting to really close in on Prado.
But all these numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt, because they all come down to supply, not actual sales or orders. Hilux has barely been affected by chip supply at all. They had a couple of months earlier in the year where it was, but next to no issues since. That should be the case for Ranger in the coming months too. It will be an interesting battle once supplies of New Gen start hitting the dealers in sufficient numbers. |

Out with the old n in with the new model will affect sales numbers no doubts.. the recent financial pressures will also as the rates continue to rise and people begin to prioritise purchases.
Do we need to buy a new car? Petrol costs will all come into play over the next 6 to 12 months id think

It might mean the guy who was expecting a 12 month wait might get his car in 9 though. But at some point, the demand is going to start matching supply. Rather than it being skewed massively one way like it has been. |

just a light sprinkling of dealer stock, maybe less regulation on commercial buyers. Now that Ford Europe plans to go full electric in the next few years, maybe some C2 models will move to Thailand, that could really help out sales in the Asia pacific region. |

The OE may like to try force business this way but the mentioned other type of buyer don't like buying that way unless forced like the covid period. Once supply improves way down the track it will go not to pre covid times but going that way.

Being very naive here, and bracing myself to be shouted down, but:
7,500 HiLux in a 30 day month = 250 per day. 24 hours in a day = 10 per hour 1 sold every 6 minutes 24/7 Alternatively, if we just classify it every working day (9-5), then it's 1 sold every two minutes. Not bad. Yeah, I know.... fleet orders etc. 250 a day isn't to be sneezed at though.

Vekgib good points, obviously the Toy crowd don't get much credit here to the Ranger devotees but under the circumstances what a killer month to me. They always have the target on the back as expected but they normally end up trumps barring the exceptions. Even when new Ranger gets out nothing will be settled re who's the winner till world order gets back to some kind of new normal a year or 2 away with regular stock flows. Right now till then he/she who has stock at varying times will win the monthly battle but I have a funny usual feeling who will win the war in the end purely based on far more choice/range and as mentioned distribution.

Sorry for stating an opinion guys.
I'll just slowly retreat back over to a corner.

There's nothing wrong with you're opinion, me and others just added some thoughts around what is happening at dealerships, some of which is fact, like the number of Toyota dealers. And if your numbers are correct then you could say instead that 1 every 2 minutes was handed over to a customer, either way it's a very impressive number and until now something like that was how I looked at F-series sales in the US where it's X number per Y seconds sold.

Toyota diverted a bunch of Hilux builds to australia to try to rain on the new Rangers parade. Little did they know that the Ranger was being delayed a month, so they got the wrong month
They would better hope they have another big shipment they can take otherwise it's made then look a bit silly. No really sure what they were going to achieve by doing it anyway. If you pull through orders it's only going to mean you'll get less the following months. |

Lol, Toyota on notice whilst delivering more units each month than Ford could if it delivered all 19000 orders plus the usual handful of sundries.
I bet they're shaking in their boots. |

Hats off to Toyota, there’s a ton of Ute sales to be had, it’s now up to Ford to get its act together and start delivering, they have great product, they just need to get it done

New ranger will do well no doubts but as others have mentioned.. toyota will probably meet the new bar at some stage also.. overall sales numbers if thats what people are only focused on wont change much.. toyota clear overall out front. As others keep saying.. all comes down to overall profit per year.. not how many or how little you make or sell.
Toyotas strong point as always is its reliability reputation.
