I have a January 2001 AUII XLS dedicated gas non ABS manual ute with 560000Klm on it, I replaced the brake master cylinder with the correct part according to the VIN.
The utes are different to the sedan as they do not have a proportioning valve in the master cylinder, it is mounted on the chassis near the diff. Sedans are stamped with the proportioning valve crack off pressure, the utes are stamped 000. After fitting the master cylinder and bleeding the system the pedal was long, very long compared to "normal". I removed the master cylinder and wound the brake booster adjustment bolt out .5 of a turn, took it for a drive, no different. I removed the MC and measured the depth of the bore the booster bolt locates into, 28mm compared to 22mm on the original MC. There is not enough adjustment in the booster bolt to take up the 6mm of air gap. I could source a longer bolt to screw into the booster to take up the extra 6mm but I'm assuming it has a maximum length for a reason. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have the part number for a AUII Ute MC with a 22mm deep bore? I just wrecked a AUII Sedan, it has a 22mm deep bore, Cheers. |
