yey i finally got my L's today, didnt have any problems on my drive down the street either. Except the only problem is that i have to drive an auto because my parents only have and auto mitsi challenger, and an auto EB falcon so i need a manual, so when i drove i used the auto like a manual and went from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 'D', my step mum was like "theres no point in doing that.. you dont need to do that in autos, just stick it in 'D'. But i though that was the proper way to drive autos? is it not?

I think that will severly damage the car if done a lot. It's fine for special situations, but constant use in that fashion = bad. Nevertheless, you'll be even happier in 6 months time (is that the period you must be on your L's until you can get P's over in dubbelya-ay?)

no just stick it in 'D' and let the auto do its job. you just concentrate on the driving . and take it seriously . well done.

pffft... SA = L's at 16, P's at 16 1/2, full licence when your 19 i think. Tho i'm pretty sure that the rules are changing regarding that, I got in just in time.

hey congrats on your L's mate, with filling out your log book you'll probably find that the first 25hrs you fill out will just Fly buy, its the last 25 that are a pain.
oh and dont knock the auto's too much, sure you might not be able to blip the throttle on up or down shifts but there perfect to learn the roads and how a car feels at highway speeds on narrow country roads, dont worry theres pleanty of time too learn, like me im gunna go up to a manual if i could be stuffed shiften gears :voldar02: |

James, just look at the drivers in Adelaide. Will let you know in 35.44seconds that the licence system in SA is a joke.

Haha, Mitsubishi hasn't got the best reliability in autos, be careful!
