Neither , after owning a TAG and having nothing nbut trouble with it , I would never get another. The screw in crown fell out , it went through a battery every 8 or so months , it canme back from a service with a huge scratch on the back where they slipped undoing the back and a scratch on the saphire crystal.I then found out the movement was no good it , $495 dollares later it was runniong ok when some little p*$ck broke in and stole it.I now where an OMEGA.

If you want to buy what you like, go for the second one, otherwise be swayed by what others think.

The watches you have selected are from the Aquaracer series. The top one is an automatic watch whereas the bottom one is actually a quartz watch. So I guess it depends on what sort you are after, I think you may find the automatic is slightly dearer but I could be wrong.

From a purely aesthetic point of view – I prefer the look of the top one but that is mainly because I am not a big fan of gold on a man, I think silver or black is more masculine, also I prefer an automatic watch as well. There is a third watch in this series with a black face + automatic which is very swish as well.

I have owned many Swiss watches my current fave is my Oris but I would love a Breitling. Watches of Switzerland is THE best place if you want customer service and professionalism when buying a quality timepiece.

Cheers, Tori

Look closely and you will see "professional" on both dials. Professional means Quartz movement. Both are quartz. Both have the same ETA (swiss made) movement, sapphire crystal, 316L grade stainless steel (surgical steel).

The gold plating on the second one has a thickness of 20 microns.

I am an official Tag Heuer agent and own my jewellery store. I sell approximatly 150 Tags a year, and i deal with them regarding service aswell. Believe me they have the best after sales reputation than any other brand i have seen.

Tags have the lowest return rate or warranty claims than other more expensive watches like Omega, JL-C, Choppard, Cartier etc. They have cheaper servining, longer periods between servicing very reliable water resistancy.

As for Pedro's claim of theres "nothing special" about Tag watches. He should stop working on the el-cheapo crap models that are 20 years old and get his hands on the good stuff like the Link Calibre 36 or the Carrera calible 16 with the Valjoux 7750 movement.

The only time i have found problems down the track is only after a non Tag authorised repairer works on the watch. Very few watchmakers will invest the high amounts of money required for repairing and testing Tag's and other quality Swiss watches. Thats why there a very few watchmaker with endorsements from the watch companies.

Tag Heuer is always leading the watch industry with design, concept and performance.

I was looking through the latest Tag catalogue and the way it reads in there is that the two tone is the quartz and the other two are automatic. Perhaps I have interpreted it wrong – I am by no means a watch expert, I just know what I like.

No I don’t work for them but have had some first class customer service from them especially when my Oris needed repair.

Seeing as how we have some watch experts on here - What is your professional opinion on Oris and Breitling?

Meh I've got a Casio digital watch that cost $150 5 or so years ago. Apart from a new battery it's been good. Tells the tide times for fishing and the rest of the basic features. No point having an expensive watch IMO, its just more you $$$ worth of watch you can get rolled for lol.

None of them and why?

17 years ago young and silly i was stuck in the city overlooking the main street in adelaide and during the day ( looking down at the bus stop ) i watched sheep all day lining up and getting onto buses, getting of of buses, then a new batch lining up again all in thier little suits n ties / business skirts, and guess what they were boring people and 99% of them all stood thier looking at thier watches, they were ruled by thier watch.

At the time i also had a very expensive gold ( thin style ) watch leather band and it cost my wife heaps at the time, to cut the story short i took it off and threw it in the bin, and i have never worn a watch since and never will, that i day i decided the world would run on my time not me on its time and secondly i quickly worked out there are only 2 times that i needed to worry about, one is day time the next is night time and i only need to look out side to know which one it is.

the bottom one looks better if you do decide on one

cheers

I'd buy the first one. Second one looks too 'pretty'

The final word! Being a watchmaker, I can tell you that there's nothing special about a Tag .. except the price!! Tags run ETA quartz movements that are in most of the common Swiss brands like Omega etc., there's nothing special about the casing which is the most expensive part of a quartz watch and most of the bands available on Tags are shockers. Most models have man made saphhire crystal glass which is harder to scratch than the more commonly used mineral crystal but then it's more expensive to replace.

Seriously though. I wear a Seiko kinetic watch. Never needs a battery change and never needs winding due to the way it charges the battery with your movements. It also sends itself to sleep indefinately and you shake it to wake it back up and the hands catch back up to the time it is. Obviously this saves the battery when your not wearing it.

Love the watch. but they aint cheap. Not Tag heur expensive but I think mine was worth $600 new where as the tag heuer aqua racer WAB1120.BB0802. is worth nearly three times that much.

Aimzes, go with the one YOU like I don't know much about watches, and IMHO brand names show that advertising works too well. Do we all really need to spend so much money on something that rules your life???

I don't even wear a watch, I hate them. If I have one, like DOC, I know I will always be looking at it and feeling like I'm rushed. Dance to the beat of your own drum (hippie alert). :nutsycuck

Sorry, dont mean to be a sales man, but its honest facts from a devoted watch collector for many years and an honest view on quality.

Hey, in 1971 you could buy a GTHO with insurance and a years petrol for under $7 grand. Try doing that now. Times change and life gets more expensive, but Tag Heuer have improved they're designs over the years.
