Default T3's in Canberra

For those who don't already know, sbutler, firefox and myself have entered our T3's in the NSW Dutton Rally round. TS50 & narooma TE will be support crew in a BA XR8 ute

Previously, this event was run mainly in the Goulborn area so accomodation was in Goulborn before heading up to Eastern Creek.

I was contacted by the organisers today and apart from Wakefield Park (Friday 4th June) & Eastern Creek (Sunday 6th) most of the events will now be run in and around Queanbeyan so the accomodation is being based at Canberra.

Can anyone recommend some accomodation around Canberra for 5 guys?

Eagle Hawk Hotel/Motel on the Federal Highway (north of Canberra) is pretty good. About 15 mins from town.

A bit further south is the Carrington at Bungendore - approx 45 mins south of Canberra.

Then there's the Hotels in town - Hyatt, Lakeside, ParkRoyal etc etc etc.

Hi Shayne....

I spoke with Anthony Moss tonight.....nearly all our events this year are in Queanbeyan & canberra, apart from wakefield park circuit, wakefield park hill climb & eastern creek raceway. All new events unknown to former dutton rally meets but similar...but all unfamiliar turf. The street race under lights is apparently in canberra itself near parliment house or it's main drag....he gave some hints but wouldn't speculate. Also there are 85 entry's out of 90 & scruitineering will be on thursday night...racing first thing, friday morning at wakefield...hill climb at wakefield then onto canberra.

We need some accomodation in the Yarralumla area or surrounds...if anyone has any info please let us know.

Cheers

As you know, the crew fellas both drive T3's, so its a bit of a come down to the XR8 ute. Its being used to cart all our luggage so we don't have to unload and reload it into the T3's for each event.

One things for sure, no need to be carrying any spare oil in there :

No where is far in Canberra so I don't think it will be essential for you guys to have accommodation right in Yarralumla. Some recommendations would be Rydges Captial Hill (Probably expensive but right in the centre of the action), Yowani Club (Home of the ACT Club's monthly meetings and they have great self contained rooms, plenty of parking and all at a very good rate, around $95/night) and the Tall Trees Motel in Dickson.

Keep us up-to-date with when you'll be here as I'd love to come along and see the action. I also know of a very good support ute that you guys could use while in Canberra (with me driving it of course) that should fit nicely within the T3 theme. I have to say that I am a little shocked to here that there is a BA in amongst you guys :

Yowani : These guys own T3's, something a little classier than a Golf Course Trailer Park.

Something with security under ground parking would be good.

Novotel Northbourne
Rydges in the City
Park Royal (Near the Casino) :hihi:
James Court Apartment (Unground Security Parking).
Most places on Northboaurne Avenue have a good level of accomodation.

My suggestion for secure parking would be James Court Apartments. I've never been there, but I have been told it is good level of accomodation with underground security Parking. But you might like to confirm it.

That sound's like the go nudie. Is that a best weston chain? I'll get firefox on to it tonight, he's in charge of the sleeping arrangments!
Yes I know its a risk but it will be interesting, bwahaha. :
He just needs to remember he has a couple of grand fathers [me & shayne] with him.
So no night clubbing to dawn. ing_sm

PS:: We need a faver.
We need somewere we can get the T3s in & out without scraping the ar5e out of them. Would one of you Canberrieans [mabe Bucky or persuit250] be able to have a look at some of the places & see if there are any problems with parking?? Your recomendations will stop a lot of pain when we get there.. Ya with me??
BTW Its the 1st 2nd & 3rd of June we'll be there..Thanks..

I would say thats why the events have been kept a big secret. I heard a wisper a couple of days ago that there were big change's this year, & that there was talk about using parts of the old V8 supercar track around Parlament house.
Oh well looks like its gonna be a cracker this year, with know one have a home town advantige.

Good for the guys in the ACT club though, we'll be thrashing around threre backyard..

Dont worry jabba we'll be giving it our best to beat them pesky HSVs & ricers.
They just dont know we have a secret wepon! Firefox in his T3 :

Thanks fellas, be good to see you & some of the ACT club guys down there.

The organisers and bulk of the competitors will be staying at the Hyatt.

We would like to keep costs down where possible and the other thing to consider is the T3's are very low and usually have clearance problems in underground car parks with the overhang of the front & rear spoilers going up or down ramps from one level to another. I do enough damage as it is without getting into those situations.

By the same token it would be nice to have the cars under cover so we are not trying to get ice off in the mornings

I think there is a tyre rule this year too Al, something like one set of tyres must do the hole event. Is that right??
If it is that will hurt the megga $$ guys that take wets & tarmac tyres :

Your right and here it is......

1. Make sure you read the National Standing Regulations (attached).

Important points:

- First Aid kit required in all competing cars for 2006
- Only ONE set of tyres allowed for the event
- Cars not to be towed to each sub event once event begins
- Information on classes

Cheers

You could try the Embassy Motel in Deakin. From memory it's got a flat driveway, with parking in the central section surrounded by the motel rooms. Should be cheap enough too.
