It was only a matter of time.
Another piece of mobile malware has been found in the wild. It spreads via MMS messages, and only infects Nokia mobiles. The malicious software, dubbed "CommWarrior", takes aim at the version of the Symbian operating system running on Nokia Series 60 handsets. CommWarrior attempts to spread by sending messages via Bluetooth wireless connections and Multimedia Message Service ? different from the Cabir virus, which only used Bluetooth to proliferate. While many modern phones are capable of sending MMS messages CommWarrior only affects Nokia Series 60 phones. CommWarrior infects the telephone directory software in the Nokia handsets. It randomly selects one directory profile at a time and sends a copy of itself to that person.

I think it will become an even bigger things with networks rolling out 3rd Generation networks (3G) it will be easier and faster to do so, hopefully networks will do something about it because I'm planning on buying a 3G phone soon (SE V800)

Good news for me, dont have a 60 series nokia. Let alone a nokia...
Ive heard of mobile phone viruses for ages now, not good. But u kinda expect it now that mobile phones are becoming so much like computers with all their little gadgets. |

Hey Peauty, the 6225 is not a series 60 phone lucky for you. i have a 6230 (the model up) and both of these phones are series 40. THey opperate on a different phone opperating system. People can still send these virusus to your phone via bluetooth/mms although they wont open becuase they are the file type .sis which only series 60 phones can open. Ive been sent the "Cabir virus" a few times through people with bluetooth and it does not affect my phone. Although it will keep sending it until u go away from the person, i also had to turn off my phone, then turn off bluetooth and turn it back on again. then it stopped tryin to send it. hope ive been a help.
Cheers SHANE |
