Default Is this a Camber Kit??

This kit was sold to me as an AU camber kit. I bought the fr and rear but for the life of me I can't see where it fits (AU3 Fairmont Ghia) .

Can someone confirm whether this is an AU camber kit (one side)?

If it is, can you also tell me how to fit it?

Thanks...

Does anyone have a pic of a camber kit - on or off the car would do.

Obviously "c.a.m.b.e.r. k.i.t" doesn't mean too much to my local Ford guys.

Bodes sh is correct, that is a sway bar link kit. (every commodore VN - VZ will need these replaced at least once!) Go into Repco or Bursons and they will have a Nolathane, Kmac or Noltec version with bolts, mount and bushes. If your camber needs a kit for that much adjustment, check your upper ball joints too.

Actually I fitted XR suspension to my Ghia.

Same Ford crew told me that I wouldn't need the camber kit with the XR suspension...bzzzt...wrong...

Oh well, I'm learning a bit about my AU.

(I'm also learning a bit about my local Ford dealership)

Just as a FYI, the camber kits p/n's are as follows:

Front:- EDTVE3B385A @ $79.75 per wheel

Rear:- 5K500AKT @ $31.50 per wheel

(Disclaimer:- This is based on what my local Ford spare parts told me over the phone today. I gave him the rears p/n and he was fairly quick onto them but it took forever to get the p/n for the fronts. It may or may not be correct, lol)

Is the kit for the IRS or the front?
Hey some people are good salesmen but a lot have no idea even looking in books or the computer for a part.

I ordered and paid for 2 x front and 2 x rear kits.

To be honest, I didn't look that closely when I picked them up.

Came to $96 for the 4 items which is around what I'd been told the camber kits would cost.

I assumed (yes, I know) that the parts were correct...

The AU ghia that I had was fitted with Kings SL springs & the front end guy was able to align the front with shimms as he had problems in the past of the rachet kits moving if hard bumps were encounted on some cars that he had fitted the kits to I had no tyre wear problems with the XR IRS camber kits in the IRS & the front shimmed.

Click the link, and look at the top left hand corner of the pic with all the bushes, thats the ones you need.
The other pic posted earlier is of a kit to suit strut front end, and they dont look all the same.

its definatly a front swaybar pin

the silver things go on each side of the bushes like the bread of a sandwich

id know because i undid mine the other day

the AU only needs a FRONT camber kit and thats all that you can buy from anywhere from what ive researched (as i originally thought you needed a REAR item like the commodores..)

If the AU has IRS & not a XR & has XR or lowered springs to have it aligned correct you need 2 P/N 5K500ART upper arm camber service kits for the IRS

Thanks for the part number, buickman.

Yes, that is the situation with my car.

You got a p/n for the front kit?

Get the camber kit which works from the upper control arms, has heaps of shims for the aligner to use, best ones on the market if used by a good operator.
Pedders, nolathane or superpro have the better product.
Forget the lower bolt adjusters like the pic shown by bodes-sh.
Those link pin kits are for the earlier Eseries Fords.
Commy link pins kits are replaced more than once in their lives believe me....
Rear camber kits are unneccessary for the AUIRS, great design compared to the Commy which sits negative all the time and worse with more weight in the boot or passengers, 18-19+"rims in these cars wear out rear rubber under 20000clicks if soft compound like in HSV's.

Unfortunally Ford are the only 1's that have them but you can get pedders to get them for you from Ford at a cost.
I only come about knowing that a camber kit existed for the IRS after fitting a set of tyres from Bob Jane after lowering & the inner tread was wearing on the back. I went back & the guy could not work out why there was no adj on the camber. So went to another front end guy that does ralley cars & he said there is no camber adj bolts on the car so then a trip to Ford & found out that only the XR's with IRS had the camber kits the others had just a bolt & nut only.

I have Xr Springs on the SR Sedan, but only 16 inch tyres. I didn't think therefore that I needed a camber kit.

I thought that it only gets to be a problem for alloys 17inch and over. Can anyone confirm this?

In any case, I'm getting new tyres next weekend from Bob Jane, they'll let me know, like they did when I ran out of adjustment on a Laser that I had which had some prior accident damage.

I've got 16's on my Ghia. I'm not sure whether to go to 17's as we do a fair bit of country driving and I don't want to compromise the ride comfort any more than I have to. I also like the design of my 16's

I was told by my local Ford that I would not need the camber kit after fitting XR springs.

After about a thousand k's my tyres got noisy and are just starting to feather.

There is no doubt that on mine at least, it needs the camber kit.

I'm just a little confused after comments in this thread whether I need front and rear, or just rear.

I'll probably get both and let the wheel aligner sort out what's what.

Tyre size wont affect camber - the difference in aspect ratio cancels out the increase in rim size, overall diameter is the same.

Lowering the car affects camber.
