Hey Fella's, this might sound like a dumb question but how do you display the pictures in the showroom so that they appear in the forum messages. I dont post many pictures becuase I never had a decent camera but now the missus bought me a new one so I want to post a few pic's, if you could help me out guys it would be appreciated.
Cheers |

www.photobucket.com
sign up there, its free. you'll get a shit load of hosting space once you sign up. upload your photos.... once they're uploaded, use the IMG tagged link below each pic, and just paste it straight into the thread... hope that helps. |

Firstly they need to be uploaded to a website, they can not be displayed directly from your computer.
Once on the web site simply add the IMG tags around the http: adress of the image on the site like this: [IMG] http://www.yoursite.com.au/mypic.jpg [/IMG] simple as that (just dont add spaces)

right click the photo, and copy the actual link to the photo....
the link you're using is the gallery page, and you want the page with just the photo..... right click the image and go to properties...thats the link you wanna use with the IMG tags. |

I think we should be able to link from the gallery using IMG tags, This is how most of us post pics of our cars in the "show & shine" section. I know it all happens in time but just disable external linking like some sites do, ie; it will link here but not to another website. I have no idea how it's done but it is possible. |

I found a way to link to images (full size ones) in the gallery. Laminge (or any other mod) if you don't want this method used, then just delete this post. Ok, here goes:
Right click on the thumbnail photo in your FF.au gallery. Click on Properties. Copy the Location from the Image properties (not the link properties). Paste this http Location in between [img] and [/img] as above, and then just delete the "- thumb" bit. eg, one of my pictures is: http ://www.fordforums.com.au/ photos/data/500/529Rear-med-thumb.JPG Putting this between the image markers [img] [/img] results in: (a bit small) by removing the "-thumb", I end up with: http ://www.fordforums.com.au/ photos/data/500/529Rear-med.JPG and the link works as below:

stopping remote linking to other sites can be setup on the server, then you can create an allow list which will allow trusted sites to remote link images, not even sure the forums would be affected by setting that up anyway being on the same server with the same url etc...
Is the right click disable feature in the full size image in the gallery actually switchable anyway? it wasn't on the other site meaning you had to edit it out of the pages if you wanted to disable it if i remember correctly. If you are linking in images into threads its always a good idea to link in a smaller image anyway, this is so users with slower connections, or lower screen resolutions and the like can still load the thread quickly and not have it stretch and deform their page causing them to have to scroll sideways to read the ends of posts etc, when linking pictures i now tend to link in a smaller thumbnail which is clickable to open up the full sized image, with bbcode it's not hard to do and it is much better for all who view the thread IMO |

Good point about the linkable thumbnail DK. I think I'll be doing that from now one (despite discovering the loophole documented in my previous post.)
Madwob - I'm only "naughty" if I actually get in trouble for it. So far, it seems that I am "good".

If you have your own server you can set it to allow only remote linking from this site and deny others, thats what i have done on www.stfocus.net anyways for some sites that link a heap off stuff from me chewing my bandwidth
