guys called suspension place today the guy sold me a pair of gobe short body front struts for EA to ED models and said they will fit an AU as catalogue says is this right?

Don't think so... AU's on have a cone shaped spring, so the bottom spring seat on an AU would therefore be smaller than an EA-EL.
You might be able to get the strut in, but i'd imagine you would get some form of knocking noise coming from it, because the bottom of the spring will not properly locate... |
