Has anyone heard about it yet? Read about it here
I was listening to the whole thing on my scanner last night, when I first started listening I thought some guy had knocked off an XR8 police car and was running from the police, I thought it was pretty funny that it happened. As I kept listening, I discovered that the police officer pulled over some guy, he then got his gun stolen off him and got shot by the *******, it wasn't funny anymore. They were then looking for the 2003 XR8 that he ran off in, the guy then drove off somewhere and shot himself, what I heard was that the car got dumped and some bullets were in the car there was also blood in the car(probably from when he killed the police officer or something), the guy must have run off and shot himself somewhere else, but it says in the news reports that they found him in the car. I must have got confused or something. I think this type of thing really sucks, the officer has been shot and killed for no reason, he even left a family behind, it shows how much risk police officers are taking, it really makes me appreciate the job that they do. My condolences go to his family and friends.

This is really unfortunate, but it should silence all the bloody do-gooders who go off when a member of the public gets shot by Police.
How do Police know if the person is drug affected? They could be dealing with some idiot spaced out on speed, "e", or anything. The Police never know what they are facing, what might seem like a domestic dispute (ah-la Shepparton last week), but it can very quickly turn ugly. (I don't believe this person was drug affected). The Police have a real sh!t job to do, and to get killed like this is very bad. I wonder if all the do-gooders are going to protest now?

Last night I was on the computer with the scanner on in the background when I heard it come over on channel 60. There was a lot of confusion at first so I started recording it. When a second unit arrived at the scene all hell broke loose. I feel sorry for the female officer at VKC who was operating channel 60 as you could hear the distress in her voice.
She was later replaced by what I think was the online supervisor then everything changed to channel 68. They called for the Homicide Squad after about three minutes, however, I didn’t realise until this morning that it was the officer who was down at first. This is a very sad and tragic situation that should have never happened. I feel for the officer as he had a wife and a two year old son at home who will never get to see his dad again thanks to some lowlife. No one deserves this. Condolences to the family Danny

I grew up with Tony in Vermont, he was a great guy, always had the time to chat.
In fact i was speaking to him in Safeway in Vermont about 6 weeks ago. He was telling me how he had become a "Ford Convert" after always liking the Holdens, he said thet were much better for police work, and hung together better. Tony was a great water skier when he was younger, i always remember his dads awesome ski boat. This is the second Police mate of mine that has died on duty, ironically Simon Dewinne died in a police pursuit at Benalla about 8 years ago, he only lived about 4 streets away from where Tony lived, and they both knew each other. A very sad day for Tonys family, the Victorian police and his friends of whome there are many. Rest in peace Tony, you were a true gentleman

i feel sorry for the copper in this case and my condolences to the family but on with the doo gooder crap the cops in victoria get away with too much, maybe if they stuck to the 2 cop per car thing like back in the day this may of been avoided, its tragic but cops join the force knowing what the dangers are, this guy who killed the officer kiled himself 2 guys dead over a traffic incident thats the tragic part of it.. dont preach that all cops are angels and not trigger happy, in this case the cop may of been too cautious who knows.. |

Very sad news indeed. There are a lot of cop haters out there and this guy was most certainly one, even to the point of taking his own life in the end.
I always thought Police had to travel in pairs at night, and never pull over a car if they were alone? This is what I heard a while back and it would make sence. Although, that was for marked cars, this officer was in an unmarked Phantom XR8. More of a reason not to pull over anybody.

It's sad that it is the goal of some mental deficients to take a cop out with them. It's happened before, it's happened now, and, sadly, it will happen again.

What a tragedy for the policemans family and friends, nobody likes to hear about these things, ever. On a more thankful note the criminal has relieved the community of a long and painful court case in which we will all see his family get up and say what a fine outstanding young man he was and either was never in any trouble or the other gem they roll out "the coppers never left him alone, they pushed him to his grave,it was all the coppers fault". And although he shot a policeman he will get not near enough inprisonment.

When I joined they told what the risks are. Tell me how you would tell your loved ones when you have come into contact with hiv or hep and that 3 months wait is the longest wait ever. Tell me when you kiss your 7 month old boy while he is in his little bed, that the thought of being killed never comes to mind.
We know the risks, we are trained to deal with them. You cannot be prepared enough. Take away the cops, good or bad, you have anarchy. Just remember, it could've been you while you were down the shops with your family, going to the pub at night......
