Mine does 11.89......bog stock it did 14.1

Between 14 & 20 seconds, depending on driver, k's and condition. Seriously they are a good looking car and the windsor is a great engine but what they pulled down the 1/4 new is not what they will pull today.

Good point. Top Gear had a great Ep on 70's sportscars, and how much HP they have now compared to the official spec when they where released.

A lot, lot less HP now !!!

about mid 15's to low 16's if a little tired, a stock El xr8 will never run 14's.

Stock as rock, I would estimate that it would run any where from a mid 15 to a low 16 depending on the transmission and condition of the car. An EL XR6 manual is probably just as fast, dare I say.

All depends on driver and conditions, but my original post was not saying that it would it was more of a remark showing that there are that many variables that no one could give an accurate time.

Sorry to dispel the myths. I had the EL xr8 series 2 manual and raced it a few times in completely standard form. Fastest was 14.91 when it was 6 months old. After 180,000km it was till running 15.1.

Stop guessing guys.
By the way, the live axle hooks up better than the irs of the au, and it was also a fair bit ligther, so they were quicker given that the first au had exactly the same engine-trans combo.

i wasnt talking myths just what ive done and seen
well your cars a freak....

my mates series 2 does mid 15's
anothers el 170kw done a 15.3 with exhaust
my el was no faster either

all with under 100000km at the time

my el wouldn do better than a 16 anymore
xr6's beat it...it only just beats v6 commo's

no other times i have ever seen have done better than around a flat 15
but good time for you none the less

I find it strange that the AU1 had the same quoted power as an EL2 XR8. The AU had a 70mm MAF which I don't think the EL2 had, it also had GT40P heads compared to those rubbish E7s and 4-1 extractors compared to those horrible cast manifolds. Wasn't the only difference between the EL series 1 and 2 the explorer manifold?

No. EL GT Extractors and 3:45 LSD compared to 3:27 in the series 1.

The au had a few more Nm of torque. The el2 also had a neat set of well made headers with a nice shiny finish. The rest of the exhaust was a twin system.

I cant come to terms either, why an AU with gt40p heads wouldnt make more power than 185kw.......It has the explorer manifold (just like the el xr8), but this time with better heads?. Only thing i can think of is exhaust system was really bad on the AU, and the el gt headers made up for the power. OR, possibly camshaft? didnt e-series V8's have a slightly bigger cam than the AU's (not talking about the t-series range though).

youd go a mid 15 at best. probably a high 15 depends how good you can launch and drive.

I have seen an EL XR8 run low 16's-high 15's all night.

Mid to low 15s depending on condition, k's and how well you can drive. A series 2 EL XR8 could probably do a very low 15 maybe high 14.

When my Ghia was 100% stock it did a 15.8 so if a manual EL with the same engine and less weight can't run better than 15.5 I'd be worried.

Mid 15s would be my guess for a good condition 185kw version. High 15s for a 170kw series 1.

They weigh roughly the same and the el series 2 xr8/xr6 as well as EL fairmont ghia's got the 3.45 lsd diff's.

GTP owner, do you remember your 60 foot time? My old series 2 el (auto) did a best of 15.1 @ 90mph, no major mods just a 3" cat back exhaust, but my 60 foot was only 2.2, maybe the manuals get off the line a bit better.

Best 60 foot was 1.9 something, with an average of just on 2.0, so yes the manuals must hook up just a bit better.
