That is one of your temp sensors. A plug goes on it, a plug of the same shape.
If that motor is going in your EA, the plug will be there in your loom.
You will notice that when everything is plugged in you will have some left over things that look like they should go there on the thermostat housing somewhere. The EA's had some crap on there that changed the aircon from recirculate to fresh if the car got too hot. Ford did away with it after that so just hide it somewhere.
All that is, of course, depending which loom you use. If you had planned to use the EB/ED loom and all that, just disregard everything I just said.

ECU Temp sensor.
The single terminal sensor next to it is the one for the dash.
