Morning Everyone,
At 11AM please take the time to have a FULL minutes silence to remember all those men and women who have given thier lifes to fight for our freedom today. Those men and women who have been sent overseas to fight wars that are not of our own. Please think of our service men and women currently deployed on operations all across the world. Today is not a day to debate weather war is right or wrong, it is a day to remember the scarafices our countrymen/women make to help our country or even others! 11/11 Lest We Forget. They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them...

If only that statement was observed more by the people who send our guys and girls into these things. I hope that one day the person making that decision is someone who actually chooses not to forget the needless slaughter of wars past. may they rest in peace

I stop and think how many guys my age (21) still show their respects for the men and women that lost the lives for the country which we live in.. It seems to be a dying tradition for people to consider the history of this country which is sad really :( |

I had to take a phone call right on 11:00, felt really bad :( didn't say anything to the person on the other end, but they should have known better....
I have to admit, it doesn't seem to be promoted as much as it used to be. I remember when I was in school (especially primary school) it was a big thing, but I think there are too many people who don't know / don't care about it. Such a shame. LEST WE FORGET.

just got back from the local court - Im a Solicitor.
The Magistrate dropped everything and made the order for us to stop and remember the fallen in a moments silence. If a court room can stop proceedings, any place can.

I am at work and one girl in the office started talking half way through...thought it was funny to say...is it finished yet?
Wasnt so funny when we all decided we would start again and this time do it for two minutes. One to remember them and one so Miss Silly could think about her comments. LEST WE FORGET

My work stopped at 1100 for a minute. It's the sign of respect for those who put their life on the line and didn't always come home.
Lest we Forget.

Another thought.....
PLEASE WEAR A POPPY "Please wear a poppy," the lady said and held one forth, but I shook my head. Then I stopped and watched as she offered them there, and her face was old and lined with care; but beneath the scars the years had made there remained a smile that refused to fade. A boy came whistling down the street, bouncing along on care-free feet. His smile was full of joy and fun, "Lady," said he, "may I have one?" When she's pinned it on he turned to say, "Why do we wear a poppy today?" The lady smiled in her wistful way and answered, "This is Remembrance Day, and the poppy there is the symbol for the gallant men who died in war. And because they did, you and I are free - That's why we wear a poppy, you see. "I had a boy about your size, with golden hair and big blue eyes. He loved to play and jump and shout, Free as a bird he would race about. As the years went by he learned and grew and became a man - as you will, too. "He was fine and strong, with a boyish smile, but he'd seemed with us such a little while when war broke out and he went away. I still remember his face that day when he smiled at me and said, goodbye, I'll be back soon, Mom, so please don't cry. "But the war went on and he had to stay, and all I could do, was wait and pray. His letters told of the awful fight, (I can see it still in my dreams at night), with the tanks and guns and cruel barbed wire, and the mines and bullets, the bombs and fire. "Till at last, at last, the war was won- And that's why we wear a poppy son." The small boy turned as if to go, Then said, "Thanks, lady, I'm glad to know. That sure did sound like an awful fight, but your son - did he come back all right?" A tear rolled down each faded check; she shook her head, but didn't speak. I slunk away in a sort of shame, and if you were me you'd have done the same; for our thanks, in giving, if oft delayed, Thought our freedom was bought - and thousands paid! And so when we see a poppy worn, Let us reflect on the burden borne, By those who gave their very all When asked to answer their country's call That we at home in peace might live. Then wear a poppy! Remember - and give! By Don Crawford

Lest We Forget
We all stopped in our office today with the Last Post playing through the speakers on one of our PC's ... unfortunately so many others around us didn't seem to be bothered, .... far too busy with their careers or just plain arrogant to stop for just one minute! ... absolutely disgusting in my opinion. |

Apart from two tools doing stupid poses/hand movements in the room I was working in, everyone paid their respects. That said, I should've backhanded them both, but it probably wouldn't have gone down well, despite my solid reasoning for something such as that. Freedom's never free and the people that died for this cause should be honoured for their sacrifice rightly. Lest we forget.

Yeah look around us...
Getting bashed and robbed by Sudanese. Can't walk down the street at night without being dropped on my knees. Our Diggers really fought for nothing, in my opinion.

However, I think starting on that topic will only lead us down an unrosy path tha will surely not end gracefully and with a gaint padlock.
