Default The GTHOFAN adventure is over

hey all, sad day

i have had it with my car. it has to go. too many problems to justify spending more money on it.

i went to a car yard today and saw a nice car. i have asked for finance on it as im broke, so ill hear back tomorrow about that.

so if it is approved, my car is going to a wrecker as soon as possible.

if its not approved, ill have to find the money from somewhere to fix the essentials.

problems include, diff, noisy, horrible in reverse.
engine- bottom end noise when i start it (rattling)
gearbox (suspected by ford and a local mechanic near work.

i am just so frustrated cos of all the time and work to get it to where it is now.

all will be revealed after i find out if ive been approved for finance.

cheers
scott

Its a shame your letting it go, esspecially after all the work you put into it recently respraying it...

But if it isn't viable to spend money on it for no real gain, then it only makes sense to upgrade.

What are you buying? e-series still?
Good luck with getting finance and getting your new ride

don't go with a finance company they will rape you. Get a personal loan. And lol @ EA! Too much reving not enough clutch dumping scotty. It's probably for the best, that paint job was a shocker mate. ;)

Hahaha!

Scott, I know the feeling when you want to throw the towel in.

But if you're broke, how is it viable to get a financed E-Series? You must be bloody mad.

I'd be inclined to drop in a low km AU engine (can pick them up for app. $500), a decent gear box (always a cheap one floating around the forums) and a cheap second-hand diff (stuff-all). The body/paint-job you can live with.

homad is right Scotty, an ex-mate of mine went thru a finance company for a then-7yo Hyundai Excel which he stupidly purchased for $12k in a caryard in 2003. The then-new Hyundai Getz was $13k drive away! Anyway, the intrest was 30% p/a and the payoff scheme was over 5 years.

That turned a $12k Hyundai into $21,458 Hyundai (his initial purchase deposit was $5k, meaning $7k left over plus the 30% p/a). It ended up getting repoed. :

Karma rocks.

the cost to repair the car is not worth it, cos i could spend $2000 to fix it all, and in the end of the day its still an 89 ea half done project, with heaps more to be spent

Get a EL Ghia. They are the best E-series you can get.

EBII s-packs are gay, especially is they are manual. Gayer than finance companys.

That's sad to hear Scotty. I've had similar thoughts about my car, but the T5 conversion has restored my faith in the car. I've got squeaky suspension, noisy brakes, squeaky wheel bearings, it had major oil leaks, the engine sounded rattly (it has the occassional rattliness now), and my auto was slipping like mad, but the new transmission has fixed at least one of those problems. Just gotta hope the engine keeps going, so the money I've put into the car doesn't go to waste. It's a shame, they're old cars now. Hope you can get the problems sorted.
