Default AU 1 speed limiter above 180 kmph?

Well as some of you know I have an AU 1 . On the dyno the spped hits above 180 kmph.Well toady I was talking to an old timer who said to me that his AU 1 was cruising on 183 kmph out in the desert in the bush somewhere NT??? I occurred to me that it is quite possible that the AU1 was not speed limited to 180 kmph.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine doesn't hit the speed limiter until ~188-190km/h according to my speedo. How accurate is the speedo though?

I know the tickfords arnt speed limited but I always though the basic AUs where limited to 180, I think a chip fixes that. Ive never taken my car to a speed like that and never plan too.

tickford utes were still limited to 180km/h (except for 250 Pursuit?)

stupid limiter can be annoying and how can it be removed my understanding is that if my speedo says 220 it should go there.
but nothing like my old car 180 speedo and easily sat beside a BA at 220

no... its 180
even EF/EL have been known to creep a little over.
mine managed 185 before whackin the limiter.. speedo can be out a few km which wouldn't help.
infact most are out about 3km/h from facotyr.

AUI/II/III all had 180speed limiters on forte, futur and fairmonts, XR6's didin't but all lwb utes and wagons and Fairlanes did.

I don't know whether its your car or dyno thats wrong useless but I know how to find out!

I reckon it won't go past 180k on spiro's dyno next weekend.

just a heads up au11futura, it's not usually deemed correct to post in threads that are years old and dig them up. it's called threadmining, and its not good.
