Default Cam and hla's

Whassup,

Did a search through the thousands of cam related topics and could not find a satisfactory answer to my question.

Just wondering those who have put in a new cam, did you get new lifters? With the vernear gear is it worth getting one for an EF with a coil pack or is it more for dizzy setups?

Thanks,

Phil.

not sure about the vernier gear but i would say it would help ie you could dyno it to get the most out of it or give you a broader range of power. and when i got my new cam it was reccommended that you get new lifters so i did.

I think the vernier gear is important to get the best out of alot of cams, when you are talking about coil and dizzy's you are probably thinking of ignition timing, the vernier gear allows you adjust the cam timing which is a different thing.

Yeah the gear is meant to change where the power comes in through rev range but i thought i'd better ask if they are more suited for advanced timing (dizzy) but yeah i guess i will just wait to see if the power is delivered already within a reasonable rev range and if it's not then i may look at getting one.

Finally got a place to quote me a reasonable price for 12 lifters@ $14ea. i've been trying for ages and most places quoted $230+ Good stuff Burson

i had the headgasket done about 15000kms ago. i had a lifter kit put through it at the same time. i never heard about putting new lifters in for a new cam but i'm glad i had them done with the head.
