I first saw one of the red fully marked highway patrol cars (presuming that's what you're talking about) about 5 months ago up here on the Sunshine Coast. I see them up here fairly often and the officers that drive them certainly don't mind giving them some.

Vic Pol has 1 x XRT (white), 1 x XR6T (ego) 1 x XR8 (white) and 1 x Marked XR6T that ive seen. Crap thing is they all have standard XR6 17" rims which look aweful.

I think there it is function over form, 18 inch wheels don't like the curb hopping as much as the 17s do.

Funnily enough, I have seen a handful of BFII XT cop cars (look like ordinary general duties cars) but instead of steelies, they have what looks like the alloys off the BFII Ghia. Now that is a wierd one

Cheaper to replace tyres too, I think thats one of the reasons they fit the 17's.

You'd think they would go through at least 1-2 sets of tyres during the cars police life, so across the board it would be a decent cost saving.

No we don't!

The only people in emergency services who might have access to a car like that would be the Police Commissioners or the NSW Fire Brigade Commissioner/RFS Commissioners

I have yet to see an FG police car in Victoria. I believe it is because the MDT's mounting brackets they have do not fit in them.

Bunbury (WA) has 1 maybe 2 FG XR6T for highway patrol cars. And I spotted a couple of marked FGs parked in the Fremantle police station

There are quite a few VicRoads incident response vehicles as FG XR6 Turbos. They have highly decorated exteriors and red emergency lights and respond to road accidents. I've seen them along the Eastern Freeway a few times.

I've only seen one or two VicPolice cars as FG XRs though.
