Boot lid stuck

Hi

My boot lid won't open, I can hear the actuator trying to open it, so it's not electrical. I can't get into the boot because it is dual fuel, but I've taken a speaker out and have found the manual boot release but that seems to be stuck also. Any ideas? Big crow bar or oxy?

Has it rained near you lately? My tailgate always sticks after rain and needs a big pull to open. Maybe get a helper to press your button while you pull on the bootlid.

Yeah I tried that, no luck. It's as if the latch is jammed,if it wasn't for the lpg tank I could probably get in with a screwdriver or something and force it, can't do much through the speaker hole though.

Thats a shame to see a well looked after car have that happen.
I suppose it is one way to get into the boot though!!!!
How did you end up with a white piece across the boot instead of the red, have you been raiding LTD's??

Still can't get into the boot though! I believe the previous owner added the LTD garnish, not that it's much good now though!

Just keep yanking the manual release while someone pushes down and pulls up on the boot lid (ussing alot of force). After 10 minutes if still no joy your oxy idea sounds like the next path of attack

it will be a cable loose in the auto release,

hop in the boot via rear seats.. and there is a cable that joints the lock to the solenoid.

ummm. i hate to put a spanner in the works but i wouldnt be using an oxy near AN LPG TANK

I think he has something little, like an LPG tank in the way!

this is locking the stable door after the horse has bolted i know but the factory dual fule cars had a longer emergency release cable. it runs to a spot just behind the seat. I just bought one for mine but i'm yet to fit it. only cost about $40

hey mate mine did this a few weeks ago...wen i popped the boot i had to like push down, not to shut and then pulled up...opened then....then i sprayed the whole rubber with silican spray...never had a problem since

Finally managed to get the boot open, here's how I did it in case this happens to anyone else out there.

I pulled both speakers out, got my daughter to point a camcorder on Night shot mode through one speaker hole so I could see what I was doing on a 14 inch TV in the middle of the back seat, that made it a lot easier! after having no luck with the cable i used a long flat bladed screw driver with a 10mm socket on the end to undo the two nuts holding the latch mechanism to the boot lid, then used a broom handle with a solid hook on the end to wrench the latch off. Ripped open the boot lid, luckily the plug disconnected without damage, the cable was out of position anyway because of my previous efforts. a long arm required! I was up to the armpit and my head was wedged sideways up on the parcel shelf.

I found corrugated cardboard jamming up the latch, pulled it all out, works a
treat now!

I also extended the boot release cable and brought it over the lpg tank although it would not have made a difference in this case, it could be handy in future.

had a similar trouble with mine peice of carboard got caught in the latch. had to unload 4 people's worth of luggage through the rear seats, coz my mate reefed on the manual release and frigged it. had to crawl in and un-bolt the latch.

thankfully mine is petrol only though.

Plastic bags and airport luggage tags are good for jamming in there too
