Hi All
The other day my 91 AV Telstar started vibrating really badly and making lots of noise. It seems to have lost power as well. Vibration/Noise is Especially bad when driving and in idle but for some strange reason it doesn't do it in reverse. I just had the engine changed over. Its also using fuel really badly, basically sculling it. There is also a ticking noise coming from the injectors/fuel rail/injection system but not sure if thats normal. Any Ideas?? Please help Andrew |

undo the battery terminals then reconnect to reset the computer
a vaccume or exhaust leak the air flow meter in the intake filter may be faulty If none of these things liisted work you need a diagnostic for the motor the injectors might me leaking / use vasaline on the Orings to seal next check all the engine mounts one maybe broken at night lift the bonnet and look for arcing at the leads coil, spark plug and dissy the rail should have a fuel pressure regulator at one end that needs to be checked if the auto has reverse and drive the gearbox should be ok

I would look at the airflow sensor, mine had the same symptoms including excessive petrol usage. I have an AX and got one from the wreckers. Is it really hard to start? You can check the Airflow sensor by pulling the lead out while it is idling and putting it back. Try the leads and the distributor for cracks. Try to get it as dark as possible in a garage and look for little arcs.
