Oh man thats heartbreaking. Someone needs to rescue this thing before it goes beyond repair. Good find, i would kill for one of these. Lets hope it doesnt spend to much more time like this, it needs to be out on the street.

I kinda smile at these comments , I have over the years owned a number of them and it might be romantic but without a lot of work they still handle nothing like a modern car and normally are not as quick
Recently we moved and seeing I own to many cars I decided to cull at least one project , towie arrives and his eyes hit the stalks , makes an offer on a couple of cars and eventually he moves everything and becomes the proud owner of a 48 Austin van on a hand built chassis with a clevo motor and fmx/9" , he swapped me a really clean 97 Wagon for the A40 which needed mountains of work to be finished ,I was happy until a mate ofered to take the wagon off my hands for more than the A40 owed me and then some . Im now a very happy owner of a Daimler Double 6 with a very warm 5.8 Wheezr and 4 speed auto..so now there are two very tidy jags and a Ford in the drive > some weeks you have a win , now I just have to find storage for my little 64 Ford coupe till I get around to finishing...
I hope you find a coupe but give though to something like a 65 or 66 sedan with mods that can be had still quite cheaply . Ps: My first GT /351 cost me $4700 new back when

Drooling at those pics. CRUZIN Mag has pics at the back of finds like this and it makes the mind boggle. Mind you they are normally of a different era.

Did he tell you why he wouldn't sell, apart from it being an ideal shelf for a tomatoes box? Looks like it's getting to the point where lots of TLC won't be enough to save that old girl. :(

they flat out won't sell, or just won't sell for what your offering?

What sort of a fool knocks back reasonable offers on a car they are letting the weather eat infront of them?

mmm... you might like to look a little closer at the pics... Never mistake a little dirt and surface rust as a f$^%&D car ;)

However... It's because of silly comments "if he wont sell .... then take!!!" that knowledge of cars like this whereabouts should be kept discreet.

My Great Auntie has a very original FX holden (pre FJ). She is 98 YO, still very active but she will never sell it as it was the first new car that she and my G Uncle ever bought. So these old cars are loved by some that would never let them go.

The FX BTW is in amazingly good condition. It got parked in her garage after the clutch died back in 1960, with 38,000 miles on it, at least that is when she thinks it was. When she dies it will become the property of her only son, who is in his 60's now. He will certainly put it on the market. They are not worth much, but a 100% original and complete example may fetch 10K.... If I got the chance to buy it I would. I would then pass it to Hardy Kuhn and tell him to make it new again. A piece of Aussie history.

Not that I wish your granny bad things, but if she 98 now, methingks the fx will be on the market soon enough, i guess.

I worry about that fairlane, cant be good for a car to sit on its side for all those years. Still stops the tyres flat spotting and springs sagging i guess.

not a real valuable find, but it pays to keep your eyes open

spotted a 6/1990 VN SS in atlas grey, manual, cruise, aircon, 116,00k's, but with a rooted exhaust, missing airbox and totally shagged paint...... still trying to track down the owner, it'd make a good restorer

at hornsby TAFE, north of sydney city a bit in the mechanics section there is a VN SS in the gunmetal grey with red highlights. no rims but complete immac interior and exterior.. and get this... 75km's on the clock.. not 75,000.. but 75..

there is also a XF Fairmont with about 60km's in a sky blue colour.. the body is a little bit rough but engine and drive train would be absolutely fine..

also a XR2. you could probably offer them money for any of them but i heard they get about 50+ offers a year on the SS

The property we're looking at buying apparently has a few 'really old cars' in the back of one of the paddocks. Me hopes it's got a blue oval on it.

Going to look Saturday.

I bought a property like that in 1989, (sold in 95) had a complete Holden FC van minus engine still with good Y frames! plus a bunch of odd parts in one shed, the FC went to a restorer and the parts were shared around, only thing I have left is the dash "pod" for a FX/FJ that I found in a box last year.
