Default Getting a USB stick for internet?

Hi.

I had a iPad and a plan with 4GB, is there something I can get to use my sim card in my laptop for internet on it? Like a stick that takes sim cards or how ever it works?

It's with Telstra, I only asked as usually you can get something at half the price of Telstra.

Do you still have your iPad? Can't you use it as a wifi hotspot? Then you can connect your laptop to the iPad wirelessly.

You can get a 3G USB modem for $59 from Telstra Stores (which also does WiFi if you need). That'll come with 2GB for 30 days once you activate it, so use the 2GB it comes with and then put your iPad SIM card into the USB Modem and you'll be using your 4GB plan. The only issue you'll have is that your iPad uses a micro-sim and the USB Modem uses a full sized sim, but you can buy adapters from some accessory shops or eBay etc.

Awesome thanks guys. And I can just ask Telstra for a replacement full sized sim card I think.

Well you can change it to a full size sim but then it won't fit back inside your iPad if you ever wanted to. There is also a 4G modem for $89 if 4G takes your fancy and you're in the right area.

You'd want something like this so you can run both the iPad and laptop off of it via wi-fi at the same time.

I have internet via kogan for my mobile, 3g via telstra network $29 .00 per month, gives you 6 gig data ,unlimited calls and sms from memory, I think it is one of the better deals, look up kogan mobile if you want to sus it out, I believe there is a fair use policy of 400 meg a day , but that is pretty good I think.

Got the sim a month ago and lost it 2 days before I got my new phone......

Anyway. If I don't find it I'll be ordering another one.

How's it been so far? After the 1 month are you going to consider the 3/12 month option.. drops the price to around the $25 PM mark... which is unbeatable at this point in time with any other carrier...

Not fussed with the 400mb limit either... that's almost my monthly mobile usage. I will however be tethering my laptop to my mobile to use the higher limit if it means I can cancel my dodgy home internet.

Im very happy with it mate, yes I will be going the 12 month option with kogan, I have optus cable for my pc and in all honesty I think the kogan /telstra sim is often faster and more reliable which is a pretty sad statement for the other mob......... looking forward to the new nbn roll out if it ever happens I can tell you.

This is Probably what you would be after:

http://www.cnet.com.au/telstra-mobil...-339343841.htm

It basically acts as a wireless router. Anything with WiFi will be able to connect to it.

As some people have already mentioned this will allow anything with Wi-Fi (WPA-2 password protected of course) to connect to and access 3G and it is pocket sized, very easy to take around with you.

Also if you want to switch between using iPad on its own and a mobile dongle you could use this to adapt the micro Sim to fit in a regular Sim slot.
